One thing that you can count on with Found is surprises. You can count on the fact that you don’t know anything, and what you think you know will be proved wrong, or you will be told that what you thought isn’t the whole story.
We open this episode with Sir being taken from prison. Not going to lie; I didn’t mind his fear. He, after all, scares Gabi and everyone else. Him feeling like something is going to happen to him isn’t something that I can feel sad about.
But like with the other characters, it has left me wondering, who would want Sir? What does he know? What is he hiding? There are always questions when it comes to Sir.
Well, there are always questions when it comes to his family. The Evans clan are all deranged.
And that is the only thing that we know for sure.
THE REAL HEATHER
We know that Heather is Lena, and we also know that she’s nowhere to be found. But, the real Heather has shown up and M&A and the. team doesn’t question her at all. They know that Lena has been shady and a liar. We know that we can always count on the team and M&A to do anything that they can to help the wronged.
And the real Heather has been wronged.
For the real Heather, she’s been dealing with this for years. She’s had to prove who she is at every turn. This leaves me wondering: How did Lena learn to do all of this? How did she learn to do all of these things that are highly skilled but highly illegal?
JAMIE IS CONFUSED
One has to feel badly for Jamie. Even I do, and let’s be honest, I don’t really always like him or want to hear his whining. But what I have noticed over the past few episodes is that this kid has just gone through way too much. His head has been screwed with since he was a kid.
Carrie destroyed his faith in people. He’s been left to question everything in ways that no one – no matter how young or old. We’re finding out time and time again just how much Carrie screwed with them him. One has to wonder how we can be upset with him over that.
There is something in him that is searching for the truth, but I do believe that he loves Margaret. I do believe he loves Carrie. So how does he balance that with everything that he knows? How does he balance the lies? When you have to figure out who is telling the truth when your whole life has been lies.
Jamie’s love, though, and his being stuck between two worlds will be something that destroys him if he doesn’t draw a line. But one has to wonder if his line is something that anyone will abide by.
Trent is trying to get Jamie to tell him where Carrie is, but Jamie doesn’t want to do that. We have to remember that regardless of what any of us think of Carrie, Jamie does love her. Even with her lies and manipulation, he loves her.
WE’LL TAKE THE CASE
Jamie has crossed boundaries before, and he’s not letting today be any different. He met someone in the waiting room of the hospital, and she needed his help. He brings her to M&A, where we find out that her father is missing. He’s dead, though, apparently. Henry, the father, disappeared when a building collapsed.
Allison, who is looking for her Dad, is doing everything that she can to save her brother. While they are listening to Allison, Jamie walks in and says that they will take the case.
I have yet to understand Jamie’s fascination with M&A. Why does he want to be involved? I am so confused.
The team thinks that Allison needs closure, and that’s what she’s missing. I am not sure what I believe. I think that no one ever really gets closure, but I also know I am a cynic. Sometimes, people don’t need closure, they need the truth. And yes, I believe the two are different.
THE BOOKIE
Gabi going back to jail seems too much too soon. I feel for her, but as they are looking to give Alison closure with her Dad, that means that they have to dive into Henry’s past.
And that can’t be easy.
Zeke had found information on the father, and it wasn’t good. He was in debt and being investigated by the FCC. This has led Gabi here. She finds out that the father was so deep in debt and left him standing for 500K. But he believes that he is dead.
He, however, does tell Gabi and Dhan that Henry was in debt to a lot of people.
JAMIE AND ZEKE
I appreciated that Margaret told Jamie that she’d feel more comfortable with him at Zeke’s. I, however, feel bad for Zeke over this because Jamie can be a lot. It’s a testament, though, to how all of these characters are – that they will always put their things aside to be there for each other.
Jamie has to learn how to have a filter because he doesn’t seem to know when to be quiet. He’s asking Zeke about not being able to go outside, and Zeke has to remind him that at M&A, they don’t judge each other’s traumas.
There is something about that comment that I love. I think it’s because Jamie doesn’t want to be judged or asked about his trauma.
Though we do see it. We see Carrie telling him that she’s his Mom now because Margaret never wants him home. We also learn that Carrie’s son didn’t die; he was taken because she wasn’t fit.
It was hard for Jamie to deal with the memories and the knowledge that he had been lied to. Rather than deal with his own stuff, he’s projecting. And I don’t really like that about him.
But Jamie does open up to Zeke about Carrie, and you know I may have felt so bad. He can’t deal with the fact that the person he loves hurt him. I don’t think that any of us would be able to deal with that.
CHRISTIAN
Honestly, I never liked Christian, so I know that I am not the fairest to him. But that being said, the man did not deserve to die. When Trent comes to M&A and updates us about Christian’s latest autopsy.
He was definitely murdered.
I think that it’s natural for Gabi to feel bad about how they treated Christian. While I will always think that kindness reigns supreme, I do believe that they had every right to doubt Christian and his intentions.
It just is sad that the Evans family has so many issues, but it’s kinda to be expected because of the way that they grew up. There is so much trauma they have had to go through that it’s broken them.
But I wonder why it is that Sir and Lena are so demented. Cause they are. REALLY.
BACK TO THE CASE
Leave it to Zeke to be able to find all the clues that others may have missed. What he does find out is that Henry was fired before the building crashed, and he wasn’t there when it went down.
This leads Gabi and the team to call in Henry’s boss. He tells Gabi that he did it because he wanted to for Henry’s family, and it was a better story than Henry stole a million dollars from him.
And it turns out that Allison and Austin’s Mom knew about all of Henry’s debt. She paid on it until she died, and then Austin took over. It also turns out that their Mom knew that their father was still alive and had begged him to come back for his son.
Allison gets so frustrated with the team for speaking with Austin that she kicks them off the case. Jamie is frustrated, but if you think that this team is going to give up, you would be wrong.
The craziest thing to me sometimes about this show is that they find forgiveness in everything and a way to move forward no matter what. They do a press conference for Austin, and this leads to Henry coming to give his son his kidney.
It’s an act of love that does change things for his kids. Henry is thankful for all of the things that Gabi has done for his kids. While Henry doesn’t make it, and that’s heartbreaking, it’s a beautiful thing that he came back.
What is so great about M&A is that they aren’t going to tell the kids that their Mom knew. Personally, I think that’s the best thing that she could have done because there is no reason to ruin her legacy when she’s all they’ve had for so long.
JAMIE AND MARGARET
This episode has changed my thoughts about Jamie. That’s a powerful performance because a lot of the time, I have wanted Jamie to just go. But I do realize that Jamie is having to come to grips with things, and that definitely takes time.
He only knows Carrie’s side of things. He doesn’t know what it is that Margaret thought.
But it’s this one that changes my thoughts on Margaret. She’s been all over the place with Jamie, but I realized that as much as Jamie is confused, so is Margaret. She even almost reaches out to her ex-husband but doesn’t. That being said, I wish she would have. He deserves to know that his son is back.
But I can also appreciate that Margaret and Jamie are where this issue lies. She needs to tell him that Carrie wasn’t telling him the truth and does it in a way that she hopes that Jamie will understand.
She gives him her diary so he can know exactly how she felt and what the truth of her love for him really is.
THE FUNERAL
Henry’s funeral is somber, but the M&A team is there, and again, this is why I love them. They are going to stand beside their clients and the wronged. They won’t leave them behind.
What I don’t get is why Sir shows up and who has him. If someone could explain that to me, it would be great. If it’s the government that took him out and has him – I would be really like art imitating life, but also eff this.
What got me, though, was Jamie with Trent. Trent is under investigation, but he’s still showing up for Gabi and M&A. I would have backed away to keep myself safe, and he’s like nope, I am all in.
Trent is hard for me to figure out sometimes, but I don’t know – I can’t give up on him. I ship him and Gabi, and maybe that’s why. But whatever the reason, I am okay with it.
OTHER THOUGHTS
- Gabi and Trent are so full of forgiveness for each other, and I am not sure why
- Sir being out of prison is not something I can get behind
- Trent and his protectiveness of Gabi is endearing, but I also wonder what will happen between the two
- I am not sure if I want Heather to ever be found
- I think that Found is one of the best shows on TV
- Jamie telling Carrie he’ll choose her – I just hope he doesn’t mean it
Found airs on Thursdays (normally) on NBC.
Another Great episode (boo NBC, making us wait until May for the next installment).
I wonder if Gabi is inadvertently responsible for the FBI (that’s who they said took him) taking Sir. His helpfulness with M&A’s cases means that an agency like the feds could see a use for him. I mean, what does the attempted murder of a police officer and the kidnapping and terrorizing of Lacy (version 2), mean to them. Sadly, the statute of limitations may have set on Sir’s past crimes (I think the statute varies from state to state depending on the nature of the kidnapping — read physical and/or sexual abuse, neither of which seem to be at play in Sir’s actions — and the age of the kidnapped child).
i like this theory. i know they said FBI, but when it comes to this show I don’t trust that it’s actually FBI. No one knows how to tell the truth and i am like wait – are they here?
I rewatched Found while awaiting its May return. I wanted to see if there were clues laid out that I did not catch on first viewing.
I forgot that we found out in Season 1, Episode 2 that Ethan started out as Dhan’s therapist. I wonder if this subconsciously made me decide that Ethan was shady and could not be trusted.
The show also told us the Gabi and Dhan worked together at a PI firm, assuming that when we get the backstory, things do not change, that means that Dhan initial connection to Gabi (unlike Lacey, Margaret and Zeke) was not based on a trauma bond. This could explain the depth of their connection; they bonded and then discovered their shared status as kidnapping survivors.
The show basically told us in Season 1, Episode 3 that Dhan was the person who helped Gabi take Sir (the telling comment about his ability to keep secrets, and look they exchanged).
Having rewatched all the episodes thus far, Heather/Lena as Sir’s sister and accomplice is clearly true. However, something about Sir’s knowledge of the team still has me convinced that there has to be another accomplice, one who has proximity to M&A. In support of this, based on the age range the show has provided for Sir, Christian, and Lena, she would have still had to have been a child when Gabi escaped 21 years ago, that means she could not have been the person helping him stay undercover all this time. In addition, remember that some unseen person went to where Sir was staying and gave Sir M&A’s case file on “Missing While Hated,” the 7th episode of this season; how would someone unknown to M&A at this point (as Heather was) have gotten access to that file? Remember, this is also the episode where the show misdirected us into thinking that Christian was that person. We now assume he was not, and his interest in helping Gabi was exactly what he said. Then there is Episode 10 when Sir is struggling with someone who pulls him from Trent’s house, I don’t think Lena would have been able to accomplish that task with that level of ease. I am not saying it is Ethan, it could be the janitor, or someone else the team interacts with everyday.I even considered Trent’s dad, but watching the episodes back to back has me questioning Trent’s lieutenant/captain, something seems off there.
Welp, those are my thoughts as I await Found’s May 1st return. Clearly, I have spent way too much of what should have been my break obsessing over this show. Having devoted so much time to my “There is Another Accomplice” theory, watch me be wrong.
I think the funeral at the end was for Christian.
