“What are you willing to sacrifice?”
That’s the question a young footballer is asked in the official teaser trailer for the upcoming horror flick HIM.

We first learned about HIM, initially titled ‘GOAT,’ in 2022. We were already on board when we heard it was a project from Monkeypaw Productions, which Jordan Peele founded. Things got quiet after that. Then in 2024 we got casting announcements. It’s not uncommon for news on Peele projects to take a while. They are always top secret. We don’t mind it, though. It only adds to the excitement. And we were excited to have the teaser for HIM finally.
HIM, which was written by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie and is directed by Justin Tipping, stars Marlon Wayans and Tyriq Withers. According to the synopsis HIM “Centers on a promising young football player (Withers), invited to train at the isolated compound of a dynasty team’s aging QB1. The legendary quarterback (Wayans) takes his protégé on a blood-chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, power, and pursuit of excellence at any cost.”

One of the reasons we’re looking forward to this film is that there aren’t too many horror movies centered around sports. Most of the time, if we get a film featuring any athleticism, it’s about evil cheerleaders or dancers. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, because we’re fans of that as well. But there is a lot to be explored in the world of sports when it comes to horror. The teaser trailer for HIM proves that.
After watching the teaser, we agree with the “blood-chilling” thing because there was no shortage of chilling moments. And we also now have so many questions, like, What is the aging QB1 after, and why is he so intense? It’s a little creepy. Who is that figure with the horns standing on the field? And why is the young footballer covered in blood? To us, it appears to represent the theme of sacrifice and the cost of fame and power. Any project that Jordan Peele is involved in will have you analyzing every detail (seriously, we’re still analyzing Us.). Even the title HIM means something. We’re not sure yet, but we’re hoping that when we get an official, OFFICIAL trailer, we’ll be able to gather even more clues. Until then, we’ll just be rewatching the teaser, trying to determine what it all means.
Also starring in HIM are Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies and hip-hop stars Guapdad 4000 and Tierra Whack.
