CBS has decided to play dirty and make me eat my words. Normally I would be disturbed by this, but I ain’t even mad about this reveal. Am I mad about the cancellation of FBI: International? Yes. But who can be mad at the casting of Tom Ellis as the lead for FBI: CIA?
No. No, I am not mad about that.
As a matter of fact, that has made me sit my rear end down and ready myself for anything and everything that FBI: CIA is going to give me. Why?
Tom Ellis.
Yes, you read that right. Tom Ellis will be starring in the straight-to-series show.
Though there have been rumors that Ellis was in talks, we have to admit that we love that this rumor has come to be true.
We’ve loved Ellis in Lucifer and Tell Me Lies. Seeing him in a procedural will be a dream come true.
We’re learning more about the show, which is said to be about “a fast-talking, rule-breaking loose cannon CIA case officer (Ellis), and a by-the-book, seasoned and smart FBI agent who believes in the rule of law. When this odd couple are assigned to work out of CIA’s New York Station, they must learn to work together to investigate cases and criminals posing threats on U.S. soil, finding that their differences may actually be their strength.”
Deadline reported that the show was no longer getting a backdoor pilot, because CBS has made it one of its tentpole shows for the 2025-2026 season. You know what else should be a tentpole show? Well, that would be FBI: International, but someone cancelled that. Looking at whoever did that.
For CBS to give FBI: CIA a straight-to-series order, we recognize that they have a lot of faith in the show. We. reserve judgement because while we know that we’ll be watching it, and it’s probably going to be great.
