We think all of us have a book or a book series that helped define our love for reading. For us, one of those series is The Chronicles of Narnia. The books were amazing. The movie adaptations of the first books were great (we loved them) and have been actively waiting for any news on Greta Gerwigs adaptation of the books.
And don’t you know – we took a nap this week and woke up to news that the first casting for Gerwigs adaptation has arrived.
Emma Mackey has been cast as The White Witch.
The actress rose to fame for her role in the Netflix series Sex Education and worked with Gerwig on Barbie. While there were a lot of rumors that Charlie XCX would be taking on the role – this proves that those were just rumors.
Now we don’t like The White Witch – as she’s the one who threw Narnia into a never ending winter. She’s chaos and cruel. She’s the antagonist of the series.
Mackey is a busy person. She’s working on JJ Abrams untitled project for Warner Bros – starring alongside Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega. She starred in Emily, a reimagining of the life of Emily Bronte. She has a supporting role in Alpha, which is expected to be shown at Cannes.
Mackey is everywhere.
We’re excited to see her bring The White Witch to life. Are you?
