When it comes to books, we all have our favorites. We have our current favorites, the favorite from when we were kids, our favorite to reread, and well, just a favorite for certain situations. For this writer, one of my favorite series is The Chronicles of Narnia.
Now the first two movies that they made weren’t our favorites, because we have such a deep love for the books. We lived in fear of anymore being made, because we didn’t want to feel disappointment anymore. But that being said, when it was announced that Greta Gerwig would be directing multiple films in the franchise, well… all fear that we had was all we needed to know.
Back in 2018 Netflix signed a multi-year deal for the rights to the books, and we waited for a long time for more news. Recently with Greta being announced, we knew that the books would be in good hands.
She was on the Total Film podcast and talked about directing the films and how it’s kinda scary.
“I haven’t even really started wrapping my arms around it, but I’m properly scared of it, which feels like a good place to start. I think when I’m scared, it’s always a good sign. Maybe when I stop being scared, it’ll be like, ‘Maybe I shouldn’t do that one.’”
She continued and said, “But yeah, no. I’m terrified of it. It’s extraordinary and it’s exciting.”
We feel the same. Being scared is a good sign. We can’t wait to see what she does with the franchise. We have faith in her.
