When a director is close with their cast, it shows. It shows because the actors respect them, they do more, and they want whatever the project is to do amazing. Then, when the director is doing other projects, that person also wants to be a part of that.
While we don’t know everyone in Hollywood, we do know a lot of people. And one director that we have heard nothing but praise for is Greta Gerwig. The director has made some iconic movies and has one of what is sure to be one of the most iconic movies of our time come out.
You know the name of that movie. It’s Barbie.
And as Greta’s been making the rounds doing press for Barbie, she talked about two stars from her previous movies that she had hoped would make a cameo in Barbie.
Timothee Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan.
Though plans had been made for them both to be in the movie, ultimately plans fell through.
While speaking to Cinema Blend, she said that Saoirse’s cameo, “was always going to have to be like a sort of smaller thing because she was actually producing at the time, which I am so proud of her for. And of course, it’s brilliant. But it was going to be a specialty cameo.”
She continued, “I was also going to do a specialty cameo with Timmy, and both of them couldn’t do it, and I was so annoyed.”
Gerwig has worked with both on 2019’s Little Women. While we would have loved to see both of them in the film, we do get why it didn’t work out.
Are you excited for Barbie? Do you have your tickets yet? Barbie hits theaters July 21st.
