What Motorheads is About?
If you grew up watching Fast & Furious, love teen dramas, and have a soft spot for stories about siblings, engines, and family secrets, Motorheads will be your next obsession. The series hits Prime Video very soon. It promises a mix of street racing, high emotions, and all the juicy teen drama we love.
Created by John A. Norris, Motorheads takes us to Ironwood, Pennsylvania, a once-thriving industrial town now past its prime and still haunted by its glory days on the racetrack. That’s where Zac and his sister Caitlyn land after moving from New York. They’re following the mysterious disappearance of their father, Christian Maddox, a local street racing legend.
What starts as a fresh start quickly turns into a quest for identity, legacy, and redemption. Zac is determined to honor his father’s memory by racing against local favorite Harris Bowers. Caitlyn, meanwhile, begins to piece together the past. She discovers her dad’s old race car hidden away in the family garage. And of course, things get even more complicated when their uncle Logan, a former NASCAR mechanic still grappling with his brother’s disappearance, enters the picture.
The series sounds like a mashup of Friday Night Lights and Outer Banks, but with more grease, speed, and emotional intensity. Yes, there’s racing. But there’s also trauma, romance, jealousy, broken bonds, and that chaotic energy that makes YA series so addictive.
The cast features a mix of fan favorites and fresh faces: Ryan Phillippe, Nathalie Kelley, Michael Cimino, Melissa Collazo, Uriah Shelton, Nicolas Cantu, Drake Rodger, Josh Macqueen, Mia Healey, Matt Lanter, Audrey Gerthoffer, and Johnna Dias-Watson. Motorheads was written and executive produced by John A. Norris, who also serves as showrunner.
The pilot was directed by Neil Burger, who joins as executive producer alongside Jason Seagraves, Ruben Fleischer, Keegan Rosenberger, and Dana Brunetti. Ryan Zaragoza serves as co-executive producer and producing director. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
