Just when we thought the cast list for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the adaptation based on Suzanne Collins’s book, couldn’t get any better, it did. We’ve been watching every casting announcement closely. Since Joseph Zada was chosen to play a young Haymitch Abernathy, we must say the casting thus far is spot on. And yet another announcement has us saying, “Is it November 2026 yet?”
According to Deadline, Kieran Culkin has been cast to play Caesar Flickerman. Stanley Tucci previously played the role in The Hunger Games. We couldn’t think of a better actor chosen. We know he can take on the role of the charismatic and flamboyant host of the Hunger Games. If you’re familiar with Culkin and his work on shows like Succession, for which he won an Emmy last year, you know he’s a fantastic actor.

His knack for delivering flamboyant yet subdued performances makes him the perfect choice. And we’re not alone in this thought.
“Kieran’s scene-stealing presence and undeniable charm are perfect for Caesar Flickerman, the sickeningly watchable host of Panem’s darkest spectacle. Stanley Tucci made Caesar unforgettable-and now Kieran will make the role entirely his own,” said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president Erin Westerman.
We can only imagine what it will be like when he’s fully in character. Culkin joins previously announced Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, Maya Hawke as Wiress, Lili Taylor as Mags, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee, Ben Wang as Wyatt Callow, and Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is slated for release on November 20, 2026.
