Relationships are complicated. There is no judgment here, but why anyone would want to make it more complicated with an open relationship, this writer will never understand. But am I willing to watch a romantic comedy about it? Absolutely. Especially because it involves Dakota Johnson.
She’s a gem.
Splitsville is the name of the movie in which she stars alongside Adria Arjona and Kyle Marvin. The movie tells the story of “After Ashley (Adria Arjona) asks for a divorce, good-natured Carey (Kyle Marvin) runs to his friends, Julie (Dakota Johnson) and Paul (Michael Angelo Covino), for support. He’s shocked to discover that the secret to their happiness is an open marriage, that is, until Carey crosses the line and throws all of their relationships into chaos.”
The trailer piqued our interest because it had us laughing from beginning to end. In addition to Johnson and Marvin, Splitsville also stars Nicholas Braun, David Castañeda, O-T Fagbenle, and Charlie Gillespie.
Co-written by Michael Angelo Covino and Kyle Marvin, Splitsville premieres Aug. 22 in theaters.
