According to Deadline, Shameless alum Steve Howey is joining the cast as a new series regular. And series lead Kaitlin Olson is getting a well-deserved promotion—from producer to executive producer! Honestly? We love this for her.
High Potential became one of the most buzzed-about new shows of the 2024-25 season, thanks to its perfect blend of murder, mayhem, and heart. Olson plays Morgan, a brilliant single mom with an uncanny talent for solving crimes, even if her methods are more chaotic than conventional. Paired with Daniel Sunjata’s by-the-book detective, the result is chemistry, conflict, and a whole lot of compelling TV.
And now, with Steve Howey stepping in as Jesse Wagner, the precinct’s new captain, things are about to get even more interesting. Described as a political pro in a perfectly tailored suit, Wagner oozes charisma and knows how to work the system. But don’t be fooled—he’s not just a smooth talker. With his out-of-the-box mindset and disruptor energy, he might just be Morgan’s most chaotic match yet (in the best way). Let’s be real: we can already see the sparks.
Howey joins an already stellar ensemble that includes Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil, and Judy Reyes as Selena. And let’s not forget Amirah J and Matthew Lamb as Morgan’s kids, Ava and Elliot, who bring so much warmth and heart to every episode.
High Potential Season 2 is shaping up to be bigger, bolder, and even more unpredictable and we wouldn’t have it any other way. More twists? Definitely. More Morgan being chaotic brilliant? Always. And now, with Jesse Wagner in the mix, we’re officially ready for whatever’s coming next.
