Sometimes we look at casting for movies, and we can’t help but smile. Why? Well, because it feels like we’re going to get a movie filled with a good story and beautiful people. We can’t object to that.
So yes, smiled when we read that Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner are set to star in One Night Only for Universal Pictures.
The script comes from William Gluck and was on The Blacklist in 2024. He’s directed movies such as Anyone But You, Annie, and Peter Rabbit. He’s written movies such as Friends With Benefits, Anyone But You, and both Peter Rabbit movies.
One Night Only sounds all kinds of interesting. The premise is, “two strangers who scramble to find someone to sleep with on the one night of the year when premarital sex is legal.”
One night a year? Woah.
Barbaro was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown. Right now, she’s working on Artificial opposite Andrew Garfield for Amazon MGM. She’s got a lot going on, and we’re excited to see what happens next.
Turner is starring next in Rose of Nevada from Protagonist Pictures and Eternity for A24. Eternity will premiere at TIFF before its November release.
While we don’t know when One Night Only will premiere, the rumor is that it will be in April of 2026.
What do you think? Does this sound like a movie you want to watch?
