Of all the Outlander characters we love, Marsali holds a special place in our hearts. That’s why we’re ready to see Lauren Lyle in Karen Pirie Season 2! Season 1 kept us glued to our seats when we least expected it – so we’re fully in for a new adventure.
Karen Pirie Season 2 is based on Val McDermid’s novel A Darker Domain, the second book in an eight-book series. So, the show may be back for a few more seasons! For now, all our favorite characters are returning in Season 2. Lauren Lyle is the lead as Karen Pirie, Chris Jenks will return as DC Jason ‘Mint’ Murray, and Zach Wyatt returns as DS Phil Parhatka. Other returning cast members include Steve John Shepherd, Emer Kenny, and Rakhee Thakrar.
In addition to the familiar cast, Season 2 will feature some fresh blood. Thus, Saskia Ashdown, James Cosmo, Frances Tomelty, and John Michie are joining the show. As for the behind-the-scenes team, in addition to being part of the cast, Emer Kenny takes the helm as writer and executive producer. Simon Heath, Emma Luffingham, and Val McDermid will join him as executive producers. Meanwhile, Gareth Bryn and Amanda Blue will direct, and Marcus Wilson will produce.
The Plot
The official synopsis of Karen Pirie Season 2 is: “The 1984 case of Catriona and Adam Grant has confounded investigators and intrigued the public like no other. Catriona, the charming young heiress to a vast oil fortune, and her two year old son Adam, were brutally kidnapped at gunpoint outside a fish and chip shop in Fife. The ransom notes that followed stirred up an uncontrollable press storm, but when the culprits fell silent, the police faltered, and Catriona and Adam were never seen again. Now, a man’s body has been discovered, with indisputable links to the original kidnap.
With the first piece of evidence in decades, Karen (Lauren Lyle) must assemble an unbeatable team alongside her sincere and lovable sidekick DC Jason ‘Mint’ Murray (Chris Jenks) and the brilliant – but romantically complicated – DS Phil Parhatka (Zach Wyatt). With the international renown of the kidnap and the constant pressure from Catriona’s father, Sir Broderick Grant (James Cosmo), the team take on the biggest challenge of their careers to date. Release Date
It’s official! Karen Pirie Season 2 will premiere on October 2nd on BritBox. Episodes will air weekly until the finale on October 16th.
