We’ll admit that we want to see Morgan and Karadec on High Potential get together romantically. Can you blame us? There’s always something about procedural ships of partners-to-lovers that leaves us hooked. We love it when shows can deliver on making us care about characters and how they interact with one another. And we can confidently say that Season 1 successfully made us care about these two, and not just that, their partnership.
Our desire for a slow-burn romance between Morgan and Karadec is strong, but we know the show needs a journey to get there. Because their partnership has just begun to feel real and true, and there’s a foundation to now build upon.
First, we need to see Morgan and Karadec’s professional partnership grow further. If that dynamic solidifies, their personal relationship will naturally follow. So, let us discuss why it’s important to further establish Morgan and Karadec’s friendship in Season 2 of High Potential. Before we could think about a romance between them, we need to see them get even closer on and off the job.

We Need to Handle the Existing Love Triangle First

A part of us does want to see Karadec realizing some sort of feelings for Morgan by the end of Season 2. He’s someone we’d describe as a strict cop with a soft heart. So, we’d definitely want to see him fall first for her. Especially if he spends more time with her when protecting her from David Peck’s threats and lingering eyes. Despite this, we don’t want the mess a possible love square would be. What we do want to see happen between them as a pair is a growth of affection.
Morgan’s love life could be messy going into Season 2. As she deals with both Tom, the sweet janitor whom she casually started dating, and Roman, her first love, who disappeared for fifteen years prior and was recently found to still be alive. So yes, we’d find the possible close proximity between Morgan and Karadec to be endearing and buzzworthy if he becomes overprotective of her. But it would be a tease that we’ll end up clinging to later on, but groan about now. After all, neither would be able to act on their feelings if they do arise.
Don’t get us wrong, we’ll still want moments between Morgan and Karadec that obviously and slowly build their romance. We’ll love every second of it. But Morgan has to listen to what her heart wants between Tom and Roman first in Season 2.
Let Karadec Be Supportive of Roman Unless He’s Dangerous

If Morgan and Roman do attempt to restart a relationship, we’d want Karadec to be supportive. He knew how much finding him meant to her. Also, he was willing to risk his life confronting Gio over Roman’s whereabouts in the Season 1, Episode 13 ‘Let’s Play‘ finale. Supporting this relationship would show that Karadec cares about Morgan’s happiness. And caring about the other’s emotional well-being would be a big step in their partnership if he became a stable place for her to lean on when things get messy or overwhelming in her personal life. Being a safe place is what friends are for each other.
However, we’d also want to see Roman’s involvement spark some conflict for Morgan and Karadec’s growing partnership. Because conflict is necessary to advance the plot. And if done right, it can only bring these two closer in the end after overcoming obstacles. There’s a chance Roman can bring danger home if he has a history with conman Gio. Someone who makes deals with cops for a living. We’d say we wouldn’t want to see Morgan struggle with handling two men in her life who don’t like each other because that would be a lie. We’d love the drama.
Give Us Protective Karadec, Please

Morgan’s impulsiveness, fueled by her compassion, is calmed by Karadec’s rational thinking on the job. If you were to ask us, that’s why they work best when together. They’re opposites. Above all, that’s why we want to see Karadec become protective of Morgan and her kids if David Peck harms them. In Season 1, Episode 12, ‘Partners’, Karadec chose to stay behind at the station instead of getting promoted. As a result, his relationship with Morgan grew to be important to him at the end of Season 1. They both felt comfortable in doing the job because they have each other. Ultimately, this new layer to their partnership would be crucial to their romantic development later down the line. Because they’re now emotionally invested in each other.
We absolutely believe Morgan could take care of herself as a mother who is fiery and protective of her family. But we don’t want her to handle Peck alone. Because she doesn’t have to, not anymore. The stalker has his eyes set on her and knows what her children look like, and it’s terrifying. Having gotten a glimpse of irrational Karadec when Peck targeted Oz, we know he’d do anything for the people he cares about. Morgan is now one of those people which makes her off limits to mess with.
Overall, we’d want to see him lose a little control when Morgan is threatened, and we don’t think there’s a problem with that. These are all building blocks to a romance that we really want to see happen, so we understand it takes time. Friends could risk their lives for each other, right?
Season 2 of High Potential will premiere on September 16th, 2025, on ABC.
