As surreal as it is, Bridgerton is in its Benophie era! The romance series inches closer to Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek’s fairy-tale-inspired love story every day. With that comes high hopes of any additional glimpses at the love story that has been years in the making for the second-born Bridgerton brother.
Netflix delivers, once again, with the first poster for the upcoming season, featuring Yerin Ha as the infamous Lady in Silver. Of course, she is not infamous in Bridgerton’s in-show universe – yet. But she is beloved by readers of Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton books, as Sophie’s story with Benedict plays out in An Offer from a Gentleman. However, as of next year, their romance will be adapted for the small screen as Luke Thompson’s Benedict and Ha’s Sophie lead Season 4.

It is wild to believe that Bridgerton has been teasing Benophie’s season since announcing Benedict as the next lead last July. A month later, reports about Yerin Ha’s casting circulated before Netflix and Shondaland announced Ha as Sophie Baek. It’s been a Cinderella-esque whirlwind ever since – masquerade ball teases and all! First-look photos and behind-the-scenes teases encourage Bridgerton fans to dive into the details – the dress, the mask, the gloves – while we wait for the season to premiere next year. The same details, if this season stays true to the book, that Benedict will cling to as he tries to find the Lady in Silver after their fateful night together at Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade ball.
Nevertheless, Shondaland asks an important question: “Can true love truly conquer anything — even a cross-class connection forbidden by society?” After all, Benedict doesn’t know that the Lady in Silver is actually Sophie Baek, “a resourceful maid with her own secrets and dreams,” per Netflix. For that reason, it’s excellent marketing to have only part of Sophie’s face visible on this poster. It puts the audience in Benedict’s shoes while amping up Bridgerton buzz around the masquerade – an event unlike any other on the show so far.

Even though there is an unknown time between now and when Bridgerton Season 4 will premiere, there are still plenty of small yet meaningful things to take away from this poster. For instance, the violet skyline alludes to the time that Sophie and Benedict may meet. The colors elicit a warmth, too, that differs from the perpetual spring Bridgerton has found itself in for the last three seasons. The setting appears to be that balcony from Quinn’s An Offer from a Gentleman (Quinn shared the poster with Taylor Swift’s “Bejeweled!”). The wisteria ties so deeply to Bridgerton, whether it be that which grows on and around Bridgerton House or that which appears on the Season 1 poster. The plant’s color seamlessly complements that dreamy, romantic skyline.
Also, there’s no telling whether this poster will be the Bridgerton tie-in cover of An Offer from a Gentleman. It does look like the inverse of an existing cover that sees Sophie, not the Lady in Silver, from the back. Here’s to hoping there is another poster of Benedict – perhaps with his mask. Then again, as readers know, it is also thrilling to think his poster could see Benedict holding Sophie’s glove. There’s also the chance that Netflix and Shondaland release a poster with Benedict and Sophie that will work as the tie-in cover. Either way, Bridgerton already has us entirely engrossed in Benophie’s enchanting season.
