Watson Season 2 Episode 1 “A Son in the Oven” is shaking off the events of Moriarty and steering towards a bright new future. And what none of them expect, especially Morris Chestnut’s John Watson, is the return of Sherlock Holmes, now played by Robert Carlyle. His appearance will shake John’s foundation and his past. In the meantime, we have Mary’s (Rochelle Aytes) mother to worry about.
According to the official synopsis, Mary’s mom Elizabeth accidentally poisons herself while suffering from a rare form of dementia. You can see both Mary and John confused as Elizabeth doesn’t recognize John when he comes to her bedside in one of the teasers. And it’s all hands on deck, especially Dr. Sasha Lubbock (Inga Schlingmann) and Dr. Stephens Croft and Dr. Adam Croft (Peter Mark Kendall) according to the photos and sneak peeks.
And where’s Ingrid (Eve Harlow)? After her betrayal in Season 1, aka her working with Moriarty, she’s on the outs with the group. That’s where a new character comes in, Beck Wythe. Played by NCIS: Hawaiʻi‘s Noah Mills, Beck will be part of a therapy group to manage their Cluster B personality disorders. But an environment like that, combined with the losses she’s experienced, that could lead her down a path she might not recover from.
Either way, the inclusion of Ingrid in Season of Watson means that she’s eventually going to make it back to the team. John might take a little time to warm up to her again. But you don’t have a character like Ingrid if you’re not going to take her on a journey. Plus, we want to see how Ingrid ends up reconnecting with Sasha as Sasha hopefully takes the next big step in her relationship with Stephens.
