Here we go!
False Appearances

We knew we couldn’t trust Nick! And High Potential Season 2 Episode 5 ‘Content Warning,’ is just proof of that. At the moment, he’s all smiles and kind words. But he’s hiding something behind that good-natured facade. Nick has his own agenda, and it clearly has to do with Morgan.
In fact, Nick wasn’t even interested in Karadec; he just wanted to get information about Morgan out of him. We think he was testing his loyalty, knowing how deeply connected they are to each other, finding out if there are any rifts between them… and figuring out which side Karadec would take if he had to choose. In other words, we think Nick was testing the limits of Morgan and Karadec’s partnership. And we don’t like it at all.
Our suspicions are heightened by that confrontation at the end of High Potential Season 2 Episode 5 ‘Content Warning’ between Nick and Morgan. There’s a spark, a simmering tension between them… like a warning. Morgan described him perfectly. She doesn’t trust him at all and knows there’s much more behind that persistent smile.
But what really got our hair on end is the last thing Nick said. Morgan would definitely never stop until he solved any puzzle put in front of her. And the way Nick says it, it’s clear he’s the puzzle… and it sounds like a challenge.

Loss of Trust

The bond Ava and Morgan had managed to build is fractured in High Potential Season 2 Episode 5 ‘Content Warning.’ And we truly understand Ava. After a lifetime of thinking her father abandoned her and thinking her mother was crazy for believing he didn’t, she can’t just wait around. Ava wants to be a part of whatever’s happening; she needs to be. Ava wants her mother to include her and treat her like an adult, like an equal. She wants to have her own voice and not just sit back and wait for her mother to do everything and then tell her.
However, Morgan is right about this. Her obligation is to protect her daughter. She doesn’t know where the investigation into Roman will lead, but she knows it’s dangerous, and she can’t let Ava get any more involved than necessary. Morgan trusts her and treats her like an adult by keeping her informed and including her, but that’s one thing; letting Ava accompany her to talk to a guy neither of them know is quite another.
However, when Ava showed up at that coffee shop in High Potential Season 2 Episode 5 ‘Content Warning,’ she broke the trust Morgan had placed in her. And the worst part is that Ava doesn’t realize how reckless she was. Yes, this guy in particular wasn’t dangerous, but he could have been, and then, what? Morgan can decide to take a risk, but Ava can’t. She’s still a child, her child, and it’s Morgan’s duty to be there to prevent Ava from doing it. Morgan would never forgive herself if she didn’t.
Morgan would have done the same thing as Ava, but the difference is that Morgan didn’t have parents who cared enough to stop her, and Ava has Morgan. And now Morgan can’t trust Ava on this matter. That’s why she doesn’t tell her that they finally have the bag they were looking for. That’s not the right thing to do, since Ava deserves to know, but we completely understand. Morgan can’t be sure that Ava won’t take another risk, and this time, things might not turn out so well. So we would have made the same decision.
That said, it’s understandable that Ava wants to be involved firsthand in the search for her father. She needs to know why Roman left and never showed any signs of life. And it’s frustrating that Morgan won’t let her, and Ava surely feels it’s totally unfair. But Morgan is doing the right thing. She’s doing exactly what a good mother would do: protect her daughter, even from herself. We just hope Ava can understand this before it’s too late.
