Claire Danes won our hearts a long time ago, and we’ve been dying to see her back on our screens! Netflix grants us that wish with The Beast in Me. This new 8-episode show puts Danes in the shoes of Aggie Wiggs. She, in true Rear Window fashion, begins to suspect that her neighbor, Nile Jarvis, is more than just an innocent real estate agent.
Who is the Cast and Crew of The Beast in Me?
The question is, who really is the monster? In the words of Howard Gordon, Showrunner/Writer/Executive Producer for TUDUM, “the title of the series comes from a Johnny Cash song. But it’s not as simple as it might initially seem. It really is about all of our complicity. Whether it’s Monica Lewinsky or Amanda Knox or Nile Jarvis or whatever, sometimes we are quick to make assumptions. But when we are forced to look at it from another angle, do we have the humility and the compassion to listen and to revise the narrative?”
The show’s cast is led by Claire Danes as Aggie Wiggs and Matthew Rhys as Nile Jarvis. That already has us totally hooked! In addition to them, The Beast in Me features Brittany Snow as Nina, Nile’s wife, and Natalie Morales as Shelley, Aggie’s ex-wife. As for guest stars, the show will feature names like Jonathan Banks as Martin Jarvis, Nile’s father; David Lyons as FBI Agent Brian Abbott; Tim Guinee as Wrecking Ball, an intimidating presence in Nile’s life; Hettienne Park as Agent Erika Breton, an FBI agent who works with Abbott; and Deidre O’Connell as Carol McGiddish, Aggie’s literary agent and trusted friend.
In addition to them, the series stars Aleyse Shannon—whom we loved thanks to Leverage: Redemption—as Olivia Benitez, a city council member who opposes Nile’s business plans; Will Brill as Chris Ingram, the brother of Nile’s missing wife; Kate Burton as Mariah Ingram, the mother of Nile’s missing wife; Bill Irwin as James Ingram, the father of Nile’s missing wife; Amir Arison as Frank Breton, the ex-husband of Agent Erika Breton; and Julie Ann Emery as Lila Jarvis, wife of Martin Jarvis.
As for the behind-the-scenes crew, Gabe Rotter, who brought us one of the series of our childhoods, The X-Files, is the creator, writer, and executive producer of The Beast in Me. Claire Danes, in addition to starring, is also an executive producer. Antonio Campos, meanwhile, is also an executive producer and serves as director. Daniel Pearle, Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross and David Kissinger for Conaco, Caroline Baron, and Jodie Foster will also serve as executive producers.
As for the writers, Gabe Rotter will write the first two episodes, while Erika Sheffer will write episode 3. C.A. Johnson will write episode 4, and Daniel Pearle will write episodes 1, 5, and 8. Ali Liebegott will write episode 6, and Mike Skerrett will write episode 7. Finally, Howard Gordon rounds out the list of writers for the season finale.

The Plot:
The official synopsis of The Beast in Me is: “Since the tragic death of her young son, acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes) has receded from public life, unable to write, a ghost of her former self. But she finds an unlikely subject for a new book when the house next door is bought by Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth – chasing his demons while fleeing her own – in a game of cat and mouse that might turn deadly.”
