Angels falling in love? We’re here for it!
Welcome to my cynical life – where I complain about love and how I already have to avoid cupid, and now I have to worry about Christmas Connection angels? I don’t believe in love (jaded over here) and yet, watching A Christmas Angel Match I had to wonder – is love really something that I should try to believe in and embrace the four letter word? Love is a rush (some people say). I say that love is hard work and finding it feels like a fulltime job.
Speaking of job – Maria and Michael are angels. They guide people to love – spending all year looking at the tender hearted and help them find the person that is meant for them. There are rules, procedures and a whole lot of stress. There is a lot of indecision and competition at the DCC.
Is Christmas the time for love? Bahumbug.
Yes, I am jaded. But I do love a great meet cute. I live for them and we definitely get them here. We’re going to have a lot of fun – after all Michael says that is what love is part of what love is about. He’s not wrong. Love is a win, but it needs to have fun in the feelings. Monica is all about tradition.

PATRICK & DAISY
Time is always changing. Sometimes tried and true methods of falling in love doesn’t matter. What matters is that you meet a person on their level. What the angels learn is that you really need to help others. You need to really learn from their actions, their likes and dislikes, and the people that they are around.
Christmas is an event, but for Patrick and Daisy, they are introverted and dare I say lost? Patrick’s friends are online. Daisy barely sees her friends. Both need to bring their heads up and see the world around them. If they did, they would see the world around them. They would see each other.
There is nothing like a good meet cute. Now, Michael decides that a Christmas flash mob is a good idea. Patrick is trying to get out of the center and Daisy is embracing it. The two are so close, but not seeing each other. The flash mob looks like an amazing time – though I hate them.
Michael and Monica are having such a fun time that they join the flash mob and you see that these two actually enjoy each other.
In the process of their fun, they loose track of Patrick and Daisy. This makes Michael upset. Him throwing marshmallows at his hot chocolate. While the two agree to go back to the basics that changes things. These two are bringing Daisy and Patrick together, but importantly – they are falling for each other.

THE TREE FARM
Picking out a Christmas tree is hard. There are so many different kinds of trees, that picking one takes time. Patrick and Daisy wanting the same one – is a cute thing. Would be even better if they could see each others face.
Here’s the thing about Monica and Michael – they both are equally as stubborn and dont see the big picture, because they are too busy competing with each other. Stubborn and both wanting control, they both are getting in their own way.
And that is definitely something that will not help Daisy and Patrick. They both know that, but either one taking the blame for things that happen? Nope not right here. When they stop to pose for a pic under the mistletoe they loose track of Patrick and Daisy. This frustrates them both, but it’s back to the drawing board to figure out what comes next.
Monica is reviewing all of her notes to see where she could have gone wrong. She says that she’s not getting help from Michael. This response baffles me because Michael is helping her. She loves being in control so much that she doesn’t see what is going on around her. She has to give up control and see the world around her.
Monicas methods are older. She follows the rules that were written 200 years ago and times have change. Monica doesn’t seem to want to do that. She seems to want to stick to what she knows in order to maintain her control and not feel so outdated.

TEAMWORK
Monicas friend tells her that she needs to drink the hot chocolate. She doesn’t do that. She considers that an indulgence, which it isn’t. Monica and Michael need to clear their minds – so why not head for the clouds. The clouds – working out in them – may be what I need. An escape.
Michael is honest with Monica telling her that years ago he told Gabriel to bring people together he was going to need to understand the people he’s bringing together.
The two of them finally talking and seeing each other from a different perspective is a gift. It’s a gift because that seeing people really allowing walls down and letting people get to know them is a blessing.
It turns out that Monica has matched Patricks great – great – great grandparents back in the day. When she shares that with Michael, that she’s matched his family before and why it is important – shows her willingness to grow.
I don’t think that you can hide yourself from love forever. I know that I am a cynical person and that I don’t believe that love exists. But it’s movies like this that remind me that falling in love is a blessing. We don’t need to run from it. We need to allow it in.

WHATS NEXT
Monica wants to try the next steps Michaels way together. I love a good montage and we’re getting that. We’re seeing how much a like that these two are and how it’s so important to open your eyes. Seeing the world that these two have – the support and connections.
The two find out that they have a short amount of time to get these two together before all is lost. If they don’t find their way too each other it will be a big catastrophe.
It’s just finding Patrick and Daisy – thats the hard part. Daisy and Patricks family are talking to each other about their respective family member.
Daisy and Patrick constantly have their heads down. It’s seeing their family members together that inspire Monica and Michael. They need to make each other laugh. Laughter is important and as we keep our heads down and don’t notice the world around us – it’s then that we may think we’re trying but aren’t.
However, finding joy and laughter puts us at ease. It’s things like laughter that allow us to see that there is this world around us to embrace. The two are signed up for karaoke. When Michael and Monica pretend they have the same name and bring the real Patrick and Daisy onstage – I smiled and cringed.
But you can’t help but love the cringe.
It’s the moments between cringe and joy that matter. Now, Patrick is trying to rush off the stage, but that’s kind of fun.

YOU MESSED UP
The two are both trying to explain what happened to Gabriel. Daisy and Patrick may have missed their meet cute, but Michael and Monica didn’t miss their change. Of course Monica and Michael are doing everything that they can. However Michael sees that he loves and cares for Monica – giving up his wings for Monica.
He wants people to see her smiles.
Michael has changed. This whole process has made him different, but what we see is that he’s always been inspired by Monica. She’s always brought something out of him and I honestly believe that he’s brought something out of her.
When she’s on earth and orders a hot chocolate – I felt tears because she was crying. She’s realizing that she’s in love – though I don’t think that she understands the feeling.
It’s Christmas Eve, and the heartache that she feels is overwhelming. It’s Elaine (Patricks Mom) that makes her see that she’s got heartache going on. It is that Monica thinking that Michael that betrayed her that keeps her on her toes.
Elaine gives solid advice – in the name of chess. It inspires Monica to leave and take on what is next for her. It may not be the things that we’d expect or want – but it’s her journey that we have to account for.

THE CHURCH
When I was a kid, I would go sit in the church and think about things for hours. I would wonder about life and wait for someone to make things to make sense. Michael and Monica are in a church – him explaining the he gave up his wings for her. She’s shocked.
The two have different ways of going about their business. Michael is admitting all of his feelings for Monica if you read between the lines. The two lost sight of each other and what was in front of them. They admit so many feelings and how they loved working together. When they decide to work together for one last time – I wonder if the fates have brought these two together.
It’s Christmas and Patrick is already at the senior home. Daisy arrives and drops presents everywhere. Monica and Michael have managed to make love happen on time.
While I do not believe that if love exists that there is a time limit on it – I do love that the way that they are brought together and the way that they find each other. But who is to say that there is a limit on time. You fall when you are ready to fall.
And Michael and Monica fell hard for each other. They didn’t think that love could happen for angels, but it does.
It did.
Gabriel shows up on earth – and tells them good job. Monica and Michael were the match that mattered for all of them. It just goes to show that no matter what or who you are you deserve happiness and love.
They both were promoted to a life of love.
