Love is Blind season 9 tests what it means to fall in love…again. Do looks, money, and other things matter when it comes to matters of the heart? Or can you fall in love with someone sight unseen? Again, we are watching a bunch of hopefuls navigate these questions in Love is Blind Season 9, Episodes 10-11. And since we can’t control ourselves (as evidenced by Love is Blind season 9 episodes 1-6 breakdown, episodes 7-9 breakdown, episodes 10-11 breakdown, and episode 12 breakdown), here is our breakdown of the season 9 reunion!
1. How did Nick and Vanessa do in this reunion? Did they do better than the Love is Blind Season 8 reunion?

Lizzie: Eh, I thought they at least tried better at getting timelines for things! But ultimately, no. Like hard no. Even when they press, they only do so for a little and then they back off when things get really interesting (aka uncomfortable). It leaves you feeling like the reunion is just a chance for everyone to pretend they’re sorry and they’re actually good people. And the reunions get faker and faker by the season. At this point, everyone’s got a PR rep and they know what to say and they also know Nick and Vanessa will let them get away with it.
Lyra: Nick and Vanessa were the same that they’ve been for seasons. They ask guiding questions and gently push to get a little bit more clarity or clear the air. But I still feel like they don’t ask the questions that need to be asked or hold people accountable. And they play it way too safe to actually give us something truly engaging and interesting. That’s why I feel they’re another piece of why Love is Blind has gone stagnant.
2. Megan caught some heat and Jordan clarified some stuff. But did they actually address anything?

Lizzie: No! They didn’t! Nick and Vanessa never really push on the bruise and ask the real questions. And the thing is that, this season, we’ve heard a lot on podcasts and the like, and I shouldn’t get more information from a podcast than I do from the reunion. This is supposed to give us all the answers!
When it comes to Megan and Jordan, I did come out of it feeling like they perhaps would have worked if they’d been able to compromise a little. And I kinda softened a bit on him, because I don’t think he compromised enough, but I will give him that perhaps he just didn’t know how. It’s a complicated situation. I also think Megan could have probably given him more grace, but again, isn’t it better to make that decision before saying yes at the altar?
Anyway, I think in another world it could have worked, but it’s probably better than it didn’t. And I’m glad she went on to have a kid and find someone who wanted to tell her about her day. Hopefully Jordan can go on to find someone who appreciates how he laughs at inappropriate moments, because in this particular reunion episode, his face at some moments that had nothing to do with him might have been the best part of the night.
Lyra: Like a lot of what happened in this Season 9 reunion, nothing happened between Megan and Jordan when it came to actually addressing anything. Megan used this opportunity to share that she’s a mom and Jordan clarified what he meant by saying that he regretted introducing Megan to his son. But nothing actually happened here.
More importantly, no one held Jordan accountable. There’s this continued conversation going on online that was perpetuated by a narrative that the show built. Megan is painted as leaving Jordan because he didn’t have money. And that could be true. At the same time, what about Jordan?
I stand by the opinion that he was not going to say yes to her if they got to the altar. And no one is addressing that Jordan wasn’t trying. He was continuously resentful of her money and he didn’t want to engage in conversation, try new things, or be an active person in the partnership. He was just there.

3. Kacie gave the ring back to Patrick. Do you think she should’ve?

Lizzie: No, honestly. I don’t think she should have. Neither of them came off really well in this, and Kacie seemed like she was in the middle of half the drama that happened after, but to make a big deal about a ring that production bought and then pretend it wasn’t about money? It just doesn’t track.
I think these two people are never gonna talk to each other again, and that’s fine. They were faking like they were okay with each other for the cameras, and at this point, that’s part of the problem. It’s what everyone else does. I’m not sure Kacie is really sorry! I’m not sure Patrick understands why we all think asking for the ring back is still kinda weird. Anyway, I hope I never have to think about either of them ever again because I’m still cringing thinking about Patrick trying to feed her an apology.
Lyra: Kacie absolutely didn’t have to give the ring back to Patrick. Netflix provided them and it was giving antiquated engagement rituals grounded in hurt feelings because she didn’t find him attractive. And this is coming from someone who doesn’t even like Kacie and thinks she should have been honest with Patrick. But she didn’t owe him the ring. He gave it to her. She could keep it and do whatever she wants with it. This was him just trying to prove a point.
The exchange between Kacie and Patrick on how she needed to apologize also showed that they’re not really good communicators. They don’t listen to each other and just talk over each other, trying to prove their own point, without acknowledging the other. Which, I see you Patrick. When the cameras aren’t on you’re a little shady. Surprise surprise.
4. Joe was blasé. Madison was cold. Kacie was in the middle. What did you take away from this whole back and forth?

Lizzie: That Joe is an asshole! Honestly. And I feel bad for Madison because I think she was really hurt by a lot of what Joe did, and she never got closure for it, and sure, it’s been a while, but so what? Lack of closure haunts you. And I think even Joe’s “apology” for the things he said about Madison’s body was fake. What do you mean I’m sorry for the way it came off, or whatever it was that he said? Qualifiers on apologies made them moot, you can’t go I didn’t mean it like that, but I’m sorry if that’s how you took it. Dude, that’s not an apology. This is Season 9. You should know better by now what you’re saying to the camera.
But also, girls, Joe is not it. No need to go fighting over Joe, truly. You are probably both better off.
Lyra: Madison, you need to move on. I can see that there is some hate brewing inside of you when it comes to Joe and Kacie. But the past is the past for a reason. And you shouldn’t be worrying about a man who put you through that really uncomfortable situation during the honeymoon in Mexico. You also shouldn’t be worrying about a woman who has enough man drama going on with Patrick. Plus Joe has moved on. It’s time for you to do the same thing and let that anger melt away. Because it’s hurting you more than it’s hurting them.
5. Was Nick genuine in his apology to Kait?

Lizzie: I don’t think Nick has been genuine a day in his life, and part of that is that I do not think anyone comes into a reunion like this to be genuine. So it’s not even just about him. The reunion has become a place where everyone comes to do damage control, and Nick came with a very rehearsed script of “accountability” and “good apologies,” and he nailed it. He nailed it so much that it felt fake. But then again, he has felt fake at every point in this experiment.
I hope he isn’t! Or I hope he can find someone to be genuine with, because perhaps he doesn’t know how. Perhaps he thinks he needs this mask to be liked, and that’s sad.
Lyra: I don’t know how Nick does it, but everything that came out of his mouth felt so rehearsed. Maybe he’s just that good at giving explanations. But it’s giving therapy speak in the nicest way possible. And I’m trying to think back to the beginning of the season to figure out if you were always like this. Then allegedly using the same lines with different girls pops up in my brain. Truly, thank God none of these people got married.

6. Anton and Ali had differing opinions about what a life together looks like. Has your opinion on them changed after the reunion?

Lizzie: Honestly, I’m still team Ali here. I think the two of them just didn’t fit, and Anton, not really realizing why Ali made the decision she made, kinda cemented it. I also appreciated that she explained she didn’t just want to quit and have him pay for everything, that she wanted to continue her career, because that was worrying me! Also, how come no one asked about all that drinking?!
I think Ali knew she was going to say no early on, but she, of course, wasn’t gonna admit that. And I think Anton just saw a very pretty woman and was gonna say yes anyway, even if it was a pretty woman he apparently didn’t even say hello to when he entered the apartment. Which is like, basic. What is it with men this season and being so inconsiderate?
Lyra: I think Ali made the right decision by saying no to Anton. I’m also glad that he’s in a new relationship and happy with his partner. But this reunion made it abundantly clear that the contestants spend a lot of time trying to make themselves look really good on camera, and switch to another person when the camera is off. The logical part of my reality TV loving brain understands that. This is fiction. But none of these contestants in season 9 were able to convince me for a second that love is truly blind. And isn’t that the whole point of this show?
7. Do you feel like Edmond took accountability? What did you think about how KB handled herself?

Lizzie: KB was a queen, and she, again, gave him more grace than he deserved, but Edmond was really triggering me this episode. I felt like all he did was try to gaslight KB and gaslight us, too. He took no accountability. But we just watched the show, we won’t fall for that trap. And even though we didn’t watch the multiple off-camera moments KB referenced, as she recounted them, they felt true. Even Edmond couldn’t really deny it at one point and got caught in his lie.
So yes, I do think he’s a sensitive guy who’s had a hard life, but I also think he uses his emotions to manipulate people. Not just KB, likely. And I understand how that was super upsetting for her, especially when he was making her look like a stereotype. She rose above it in the reunion, and that really seemed to be her plan. Hopefully, Edmond can learn a lesson from this. I don’t think he can, but stranger things have happened.
Lyra: Edmond took zero accountability. There was a moment after KB shared her experience about being with Edmond, that he dismissed her feelings. KB then looked off to the side, her eyes completely shut down and tired of all of this. And it was kind of jarring. If this is what KB has to deal with in front of the cameras, what’s happening behind the camera?
Thankfully we’ll never have to find out as these two didn’t end up getting married. In shout out to KB for being an absolute class act who was patient and understanding with Edmond while drawing her clear and present lines. She cared for Edmond. But not enough to let his manipulation and disrespect pass like nothing.
8. Even though no one got married this season of Love is Blind, what did you think of this season and reunion?

Lizzie: The season sucked, the reunion kinda sucked too! But again, at this point, reunions always kinda suck, and it was bound to suck more since we didn’t have any happy couples to check in with. I think the show needs to pick better contestants, though I will say I appreciate this reunion gave us a glimpse at the mess post-weddings, aka everyone just dating each other like kids in a very small town that have to recycle partners because there’s no one else. Objectively hilarious. Maybe they should do Love Isn’t Blind Anymore: Celebrity Edition next and bring back past contestants for their second chance at love!
Lyra: It was the same old same old for Love is Blind Season 9. No one getting married this season clearly throws things for a loop. But even that wasn’t enough to bring back the spark that the show has lost in the last couple of seasons. I don’t feel a spark of excitement at possible romance when I’m watching this show. And that’s a real shame because Season 1 really was something so unique and which led to multiple spin-offs and us about to reach Season 10 in the main franchise show.
I will say though that I enjoyed the faces in the reunion. Jordan was looking like he was holding on for his dear life. So did Kait a couple times. And I don’t know who those audience members were, but those reactions were so real and felt like it was us yelling at the TV screen.
Love is Blind Season 9 is now available on Netflix. The Season 9 reunion premieres October 29.
