I have had to sit with this review because I am so disgusted by Steven and Lucy right now that I am honestly not sure I can articulate the way that the video element made me feel offended. Sexual assault is not something to trivialize in any way or lie about. However, Tell Me Lies has made a storyline look even worse than I thought they were capable of.
We all saw in the trailer that Lucy is apologizing for something. Little did I know that Steven would make her make one of the grossest videos, and she would do it. Now, I already took issue with Lucy lying about being assaulted. But I take issue with him manipulating her words to make it worse.
That video is not even close to anything that happened, and that is part of what is making me so mad. Steven had Lucy record a lie, and that lie can have significant backlash for everyone.

The name Steven is now as bad as Brad or Chad. Not that the name Steven was ever a good one with this show. Tell Me Lies has made me physically ill this episode, and I feel disgusting. I feel sick that Steven has somehow found a way to be worse than he’s ever been, and while I will never say that Lucy was right in her lies, the way that he exploits what she did and makes it into something way worse. He’s sinister. He’s disgusting. He deserves to be taken down like ten notches.
We start with Lucy waking up from a dream – a dream where Bree catches her in bed with Evan. This is Lucy’s worst nightmare. While I can’t always remark that Lucy is the best friend to anyone who knows her, I will say that her wanting to run all the time does not make sense to me. At some point, doesn’t she need to face the drama head-on? Own her mistakes?
Lucy wants to run a writing program in Spain. She’s smart enough to head to her counselor and ask if there is still time to apply. She says that she’ll get her application in if she can get it in by Friday.

I can’t even focus because, as I write this, all I can think about is the ending. But I know we have to get there. There are good things that do happen – well, very few, but hey, it does. Pippa and Diana getting together is a positive, but they still have to figure out what is there. No one wants to hurt Wrigley, but I do think that we all know that Wrigley and Pippa do not belong together.
Bree has lost it, and her villain era has begun.
Bree is one of those people that I don’t get. There is this part of me that has always thought that she was so innocent, but I am having a hard time with this undercover craziness that needs therapy. While I think we can all understand that Oliver is wildly attractive, I think that she also needs to let it go.

Yes, he’s doing the same thing to someone else (possibly), and so I think that if Bree wants to make changes, she needs to go to the administration. Instead, what she’s doing is belittling those around her, while keeping a ton of secrets and coming across like a stalker. She’s obsessed with Oliver and I wonder if she has conveniently forgotten what happened.
She’s cruel to Amanda, the freshman, when she realizes that she’s probably sleeping with Oliver. What she should be thinking about is saving this girl from the same fate she’s got going on right now. Instead, she’s jealous and sends Oliver a photo of the two of them together.
Just curious as to what she thinks that will do.

At the party, Bree’s flirty with Evan, but she’s also encouraging Lucy to have rebound sex with Alex. Now, there is something there between Alex and Lucy. I get that. She’s too wrapped up in Steven, and having sex with him doesn’t work. Well, at first. At least he was honest in telling her that he can’t be the guy to reassure her right now.
Bree was fine with Alex and Lucy hooking up. When they talk about it – Bree and Lucy – that’s when Steven starts calling Bree. Lucy tells her not to answer, and she goes to deal with Steven.
The one time that Steven tells the truth is that he wants her to hurt as much as he does. I would have let him tell Bree that I slept with her ex-boyfriend. I woulda just come clean, because hearing it from me would presumably be better than hearing from Steven. Instead, Lucy decides to give him something to hold over her so he doesn’t tell Bree.

Mark my words – regardless, he will tell her. But I can’t even talk about that video. I wanna vomit every time I think about it. Steven is sadistic. The way he plays Evan for money to keep his sister in school, but then Lucy with the video – I can’t.
There is not one character in this show that is worth liking. They are all in desperate need of therapy, and I am not sure that even a therapist can help them.
Tell Me Lies really makes me hate characters sometimes. It’s too toxic. The way that after this video, she can’t wash off the pain, and so she goes to have sex with Alex and makes him tell her she’s pathetic and nothing. I can’t even with how much that breaks me for her. She deserves better.

SONIA MENA

- Steven is going to the bar to talk to Lucy’s ex – this man is diabolical
- Wrigley asking Steven how hard it is that he has to be nice made me choke cause hahahaha
- Pippa needs to break things off with Wrigley
- Evan finally not treading on feelings and saying what he thinks – it’s about time
