Life-Changing Decisions

In The Rookie Season 8 Episode 4 ‘Cut and Run,’ both Wopez and Bailan make life-altering decisions that change the course of their lives and relationships. However, the way they handle the situation highlights the differences between their priorities. Wesley hadn’t planned on running for district attorney, but he starts to consider the possibility. Wesley knows he can do a lot of good in that position.
However, he needs Angela to be with him, and if she isn’t, Wesley is clear that he won’t do it. His family is his priority. And although Angela resists, she finally has to accept how great it would be to have someone like Wesley become the next district attorney. But is she willing to make the necessary sacrifices?
Angela weighs it up quite a bit in The Rookie Season 8 Episode 4 ‘Cut and Run.’ And she concludes that she is in. Angela knows it’s the right decision; she feels it in her bones. So Wopez finds common ground, meeting halfway. But what if Angela had said no? Well, we think Wesley would have prioritized his family.
Bailan is the other side of the coin. They didn’t have to overcome major obstacles throughout the show, but that changes in The Rookie Season 8 Episode 4 ‘Cut and Run.’ Bailey is quick to dismiss the idea of the position, but when her boss allays her doubts about whether she’d be up to the task, she agrees that she’d love to take it. So, as with Wopez, they begin to explore the possibilities.
But when it becomes clear that in this case there are too many cons, the Bailan team falls apart. Bailey promised that if Nolan didn’t agree, they wouldn’t do it. But when push comes to shove, Bailey realizes she still wants the job. And where does that leave them? The question hangs in the air. It’s not fair for Bailey to give up something she wants. But it’s also not fair for Nolan to have to start from scratch or for them to have to completely change their lives.

Priorities

So, at this point in The Rookie Season 8 Episode 4 ‘Cut and Run,’ it’s all about priorities. What is Bailey’s priority, her job or her marriage? There’s no right answer here. You just have to choose. When I was about 15, my dad faced a similar problem. He was offered a promotion at work…if we moved to another city.
So my parents weighed up what to do. We could move and change our whole lives, or we could stay. My parents decided we should stay because they felt it was best for our family. But would they have been wrong if they had prioritized the job and we had moved? Nope. Not at all.
In The Rookie Season 8 Episode 4 ‘Cut and Run,’ Bailey faces the same problem. If she takes that job, her marriage will be over. And if she stays, she has to give up something she wants. Bailey decided to prioritize her job. And we don’t judge her. There’s nothing wrong with that. As we said, there’s no right answer here.
That said, we personally think the best decision in this case is for them to stay in Los Angeles. After all, it’s not just about whose job is more important, Bailey’s or Nolan’s; there are also salary and cost-of-living issues that come into play and would turn their comfortable life in Los Angeles upside down. And yes, that means Bailey would have to let go of the job she wants, but as we mentioned, It’s a matter of priorities. Sometimes you have to give up some things to prioritize others.
