Here we are with an episode of CIA that hits way too close to home these days. The world is a dumpster fire and maybe, just maybe being reminded of it is sometimes a lot. This weeks episode is about a sleeper cell of spies from Iran that have been activated in New York.
As a person that has anxiety and lives in New York, I would like to thank CBS and CIA for my mind now spinning.
In this episode of CIA, I am really torn with what I think of it. Everything gets intense and then somehow, as it does, gets tied up. Now, I am fully aware that this is a television show and that somethings need to be wrapped up. The case being wrapped up – yes, needs to happen. There is always a bigger overlapping subplot.
Dick Wolf has a habit of hitting close to home. Isn’t the slogan for most things “ripped from the headlines” or something?
The best part of this episode was seeing parts of Colins personal life. It is interesting because (1) he said he’s falling in love and here, I was thinking it was his wife and child (2) there is someone that has a hold on Colin, which I didn’t think was possible, and (3) even spies have secrets.

THE CELL
When the sleeper cell was woken, the first thing that they did was make sure that their dog was okay and taken care of. I can appreciate that. What happens next is that the two set out to set off some bombs and kill.
Though I had to cringe when a child was blown up. I know that things like this happen in life but I don’t have to like it. The two are ruthless and they don’t care about the trail of destruction that they leave behind.
These people are the most dangerous kind of people – the ones with nothing left to lose. They are reckless and fearless. The CIA and FBI have to stop them, but following the clues isn’t always easy. And when you have different ways of handling things it can seem impossible to fix.
As Colin and Bill follow the clues, they both are learning from each other. Bill needs to stop being reckless and realize that Colin has something to teach him, but also vice versa. Like Bill, don’t touch things.

THE RESTAURANT
I think that if Colin walked into a restaurant, I would drop some bills and walk out. I would be afraid. But that would be if I knew who he was. And well hey, the people of the cell didn’t.
He charms information out of one of them. He practically knocks another one out. But when he and Bill find the main people at the restaurant, it’s Colin that manages to make sure that things go the way they should.
He’s willing to do whatever to keep the people safe. But it is kind of amazing how him and Bill have learned to trust each other – as much as they can. When the people want to leave, they do. But luckily the CIA has shut down cell phone towers and the FBI is there to take them down.

THE LIFE
I am confused by Colins relationship. I would think that being a part of the CIA you have to disclose who you are in a relationship with.
When Colin says that he’s going to show up, Sarah shuts him down. She says that her son has a father to go to the school thing with him, and she doesn’t want him confused. I get protecting your child though.
I am confused by confessions of falling in love because I thought that they were married, but then. wouldn’t they already be in love. Then, when we find out that Sarah works for a firm that is in the spy game?
I feel like they are trying to drop clues about who the mole may be. Is Colin really in love with Sarah? Is he working her for info? Does he work for her? I feel like there is something that I am missing.
This episode of CIA was okay, but it was also less impressive than. other episodes. I know that we are at the beginning of the episode though, so I feel like I just need to buckle in and know what will be, will be.

OTHER THOUGHTS
- Colin being a Dad? I am so confused
- Miguel accomplished a lot. We should give him credit for getting the towers down
- The golf course – all these bombs scare me
- I don’t like all these kids getting hurt
- Bill and Colin are starting to work together better
- Nikki and Gina – I really like them and want more of them
- I don’t see Bill investigating Colin going well
