We love a casting announcement. We especially love one that tells us that someone was cast but their role is a secret. It makes us think about the possibilities.
The latest casting in Beach Read is Ella Balinska. Though we have no idea who Balinska will play, we do know she joins a cast that includes Phoebe Dynevor and Patrick Schwarzenegger, Andie MacDowell, Kevin Bacon, Kristin Davis, Tig Notaro and Inanna Sarkis.
The basics of the story are that January and Gus are two authors. They have been living next door to each other for three months, and each one is suffering from a bad case of writer’s block. January is unable to write the romance novel she needs to, and for Gus, the Great American Novel seems impossible. So, in an effort to cure the writer’s block, they switch genres. They’ll help each other through this, and no one will fall in love (ya, right, we know the trope and the setup).
Beach Read releases exclusively in theaters on May 7, 2027.
