We watch a lot of TV and movies! So yeah, we’re fangirling over a lot of things! Each week we come together to highlight all the feels they give us throughout the week. On these Fangirlish Feels of the Week, there are five categories and many thoughts! Ready?

Best Scene of the Week
Rachel: After watching the greatness that is Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey, it’s hard to choose one scene because so many are phenomenal. But if I have to, I’ll single out the climactic sequence when Odysseus confronts all the suitors who have taken over his palace and sees his wife Penelope again, FINALLY, after so many years.
Matt Damon has to portray both physicality and strong emotion in this extended scene and he does it so well. Anne Hathaway matches him perfectly. Odysseus begins the scene in disguise and claims his identity in his own house as he also reaches an emotional resolution within himself. Amazing.
Gissane: Agreed with Rachel. The Odyssey is everything I could’ve wanted and more. The entire third act is an absolute masterclass in payoff. I can’t even choose a single scene from it, because it’s that sensational as a whole.
Lizzie: I’m a sucker for Wolverine-centric episodes, and X-Men ‘97 gave us Weapon X this week, and brought back Lady Deathstrike and Sabertooth too, which is basically a torpedo to my childhood. It’s once again one of those episodes that kinda goes how you expect it to go, but you still enjoy.
Jasmine: Lestat serenading Louis in The Vampire Lestat Episode 1×06. It was a bit of a full circle moment after that last time he sang to him out of bitterness. This time there was love and passion behind his words. The best part about it was seeing his mother come to the realization that he wasn’t singing to her.
Ship of the Week
Rachel: Odysseus and Penelope in The Odyssey for sure! I was almost knocked out by the level of chemistry between Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway. What haven’t we seen them play romantic interests before??? The scene just before he leaves for the Trojan War was an incredible demonstration of that, and their reunion at the end of the film is the best kind of emotional payoff. The yearning for each other! One of the best ships in a movie so far this year and I’m not kidding!
Gissane: Heartstopper Forever released this week, and Nick and Charlie continue to be the absolute sweetest ever. The maturity in this movie. The heart and vulnerability they brought to the table. It’s so so lovely to know they got their happy ending.
Jasmine: Loustat in The Vampire Lestat Episode 1×06. First off, this was the most time they’ve spent together all season and I loved every bit of it. Well, except that shocking ending. I always enjoy watching them have simple conversations. I even enjoyed their argument because it needed to happen. They’ve both kept so much bottled up inside and it was important for them to let it all out. It got them to the place they were at by the time they took that seat on the bench to just sit quietly and process everything.
Best Performance of the Week
Rachel: Am I allowed to say every single cast member of The Odyssey? Seriously, Damon and Hathaway are joined in their career-best performances by Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, and even the actors in the smaller supporting roles, like John Leguizamo as Eumaeus. This film is a true epic, meaning the cast is extensive, and they all rise to the challenge. If forced to praise only one, I’d go with Damon but I am not exaggerating when I say the entire cast should be proud of themselves.
Gissane: I’m still very emotional over Tom Holland’s performance in The Odyssey, so if I have to choose one—right now, I’m saying it’s him. But really, everyone brought their A-game so beautifully, I’ll never be over it.
Lizzie: I think Ormund Hightower is a despicable character, but dear Lord, is James Norton killing it. It’s so hard to come into a show in Season 3, when all the dynamics are established, and become a fearsome villain. And to do it with the level of charisma he’s displaying? Truly feels like he and Matt Smith might be the only ones having real fun this season. And hey, in my book, a comparison to Daemon isn’t a bad thing!
Honorary mention to the last episode of Connor Storrie on his Criminal Minds: Evolution guest arc. That wasn’t the ending we wanted, but the fact that he made us like the character is a small miracle.
Raquel: I completely agree with Lizzie in HBO’s House of the Dragon stuff. And I would add Emma D’Arcy as our Queen Rhaenyra. You can really feel the weight of the crown with her.
Moment that Annoyed Us This Week
Raquel: I’m watching season 4 of Sullivan’s Crossing and I’m hating this forced love triangle between Liam, Maggie, and Cal.
Rachel: Right-wing idiots trying to review-bomb The Odyssey with low ratings just because a Black woman was cast as Helen of Troy. They proved just as ineffectual as always because so many other people gave the film high ratings, though.
Jasmine: Daniel in The Vampire Lestat being a messy b—- by asking Louis if he’d met “Sofia” yet. He saw Louis and Lestat having a sweet moment and he chose that moment to step in and break that spell.
