I think that we can all agree that Prime Video is killing it at the book to movie adaptation game. From the Off Campus series to Every Year After, from Culpa Mia to My Fault: London – they’ve managed to turn out magic with the bringing them to life.
And they’re doing it again with The Last Sunrise.
The movie is an adaptation of Anna Todd’s book of the same name. The Last Sunrise follows Ry (Maia Reficco), a college student with a chronic illness, on a summer escape to Mallorca with her mother (Eva Longoria). As she unexpectedly falls for Julián (Fernando Lindez) and begins to embrace living in the moment, her worsening condition and long-hidden family secrets threaten to unravel everything before the summer ends.
“This summer I wanted to live like it’s the last summer i’ll ever had,” Ry (Reficco) says as her and Julián walk along the beach. The trailer shows intense chemistry between Reficco and Lindez – it is WOW.
The rest of the trailer? Really damn hot. It debuted exclusively on Teen Vogue this morning.
“What attracted me most was the emotional journey,” Lindez told the outlet of why he wanted to do the movie. “It’s the kind of story that isn’t just entertaining—it really asks questions about love, loss, and the choices we make when everything changes. I also loved that my character goes through such a profound transformation. As an actor, those are the roles you dream of because they challenge you both emotionally and physically.”
The movie was shot on location in Mallorca – one of the most beautiful places on earth. Seeing the cities streets and the beauty of the ocean – it’s hard to not stop and be in awe. Anna Todd’s book is a very emotional story, one that we can’t wait to see how it translates to the the screen.
