We have to admit that we’re loving the way that verticals are changing and evolving. The medium is becoming more and more popular, which means that storylines and scripts are improving. We’ve been waiting for that because the medium has so much potential.
They are going beyond the same recycled storyline.
They are looking at life from different angles.
And the best part is getting to know all of the actors that star in verticals. One actor that we’ve loved is Jake Lively. He’s versatile and throws himself into every role that he plays. He’s now starring in ReelShort’s adaptations of Sierra Simone’s queer romance books in the Lyonesse Trilogy.
And he’s starring opposite someone that you may recognize.
Nico Tortorella has starred in such shows and movies as — Younger, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, The Following, and Scream 4. He’s now coming to the vertical medium in the Lyonesse Trilogy.
Entertainment Weekly debuted photos from the first installment – Salt Kiss. After Salt Kiss, will be Honey Cut and Bitter Burn. If you aren’t familiar with the books, they give a modern day twist on the story of Tristan and Isolde.
WHAT IT IS ABOUT
The jist? Well, “Tristan Thomas, a wayward soldier freshly departed from the army. Mark Trevena (Tortorella), the cruel and amoral billionaire owner of DC’s ultra-secret Lyonesse club, hires Tristan to be his new bodyguard. The man soon becomes enamored with Mark until he’s asked to safeguard his boss’ fiancée, Isolde Laurence (Katelyn Rose). Against his better judgment, Tristan starts warming up to — and even developing feelings for —Isolde, whose family is forcing her into this marriage with Mark. It creates quite the salacious love triangle.”

While some may not love the trope of a love triangle, we have to admit we’re kind of obsessed with it.
“The Lyonesse Trilogy was always meant to be experienced as one complete, interconnected story, which makes seeing all three books adapted together especially exciting,” author Sierra Simone told EW in a statement. “Mark, Tristan, and Isolde’s journey is packed with tension, desire, and emotional turmoil, and I’m thrilled for audiences to experience every turn of their story in a new vertical format.”
September will be busy on ReelShort with these adaptations. Salt Kiss debuts September 6, followed by Honey Cut on September 15, and Bitter Burn on September 24.
