HELL YEAH! Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, and we’re excited! Greta Gerwig is taking us back to C. S. Lewis’ world, and if there’s one thing this first look gets right, it’s that feeling of magic and adventure. Watching Narnia come to life again is exciting enough, but getting to see where it all started? That’s something else entirely. And we’re IN!
Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew Trailer Introduces Us to a Whole New Adventure
What got us most excited about the trailer is how much the magic and the sense of adventure come through. There’s a whole new world to discover here, and we get to see it take shape from the very beginning. The Magician’s Nephew takes us back to a time before Lucy ever found that wardrobe, and I can’t wait to see how Greta Gerwig brings this part of C. S. Lewis’ world to life.
The story centers on Digory and Polly, whose adventures take them beyond the world they know and into the events that lead to Narnia’s creation. David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell star as the two young leads, joined by a cast that includes Daniel Craig, Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, Ciarán Hinds, Denise Gough, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Susan Wokoma, and Meryl Streep. Gerwig is writing and directing the film, bringing her own vision to C. S. Lewis’ story.
And we can’t wait to see how Gerwig brings everything to life!
When Does Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew Come Out?
First published in 1955, The Magician’s Nephew explores how the connections between our world and Narnia began, leading into the events of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Although the latter was published five years earlier, Gerwig’s film is the first screen adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew, giving this foundational chapter of C. S. Lewis’ seven-book series its own cinematic debut.
And this is an adventure Netflix wants us to experience on the biggest screen possible. Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew will open in IMAX and theaters worldwide on February 12, 2027, before arriving on Netflix on April 2, 2027. IMAX sneak previews will begin on February 10.
We still have a while to wait before we can experience the entire adventure, but this first trailer has given us plenty to look forward to. The magic is there, the sense of discovery is there, and the prospect of witnessing the creation of Narnia is already enough to get us excited.
If this first look is any indication, we might be in for something truly special. And we’re more than ready to find out!
