The world of Carrie White is expanding.
Season 1 of the Prime Video series based on Stephen King’s book was released earlier this month. It ended with a few cliffhangers, including the fact that, unlike in the book, Carrie didn’t die after she was stabbed. She instead left town with her new friend Emaline. Viewers have wondered if a second season was in the works. Well, we finally have an answer. Prime Video has officially announced Season 2 of Carrie.
We’re not surprised, considering the series hit number 1 in over 105 countries worldwide. That’s because of Summer H. Howell’s portrayal of the misfit high schooler. And because showrunner Mike Flanagan took a story so many of us know and gave it a fresh, modern take. And we’re excited about this news because we still have so many unanswered questions.
Here’s what we’d like to see happen in season two of Carrie!

What Really Happened On Prom Night?

While we know that Carrie was ultimately responsible for the prom night massacre, it’s clear that she did not do it all alone. In Carrie Season 1, Episode 7, Romantic Literature, several mysterious individuals were inside the gymnasium. Including Amanda, the woman who encouraged Margaret to kill her to save her from herself. We know Amanda was there to do Carrie harm. But the other girls who were there- were they out to hurt her too, or were they there to help?
Then there’s Emaline (Thalia Dudek), Carrie’s friend who has the ability to astral project. As Carrie stood onstage, she told her to let her “Take the wheel.” Does that mean that Emaline was controlling all of her actions? Obviously, I know that she did use her powers that night, but how much of it was magnified by what Emaline’s powers could do?
I’m so curious about all of this. Because, as I said, I felt like Carrie had a sort of blackout during all of that. Sue (Siena Agudong) even told Adelaide (Kate Siegel) during her interview that “It wasn’t just Carrie.” I would love to see flashbacks of prom night because, in my opinion, those scenes went a lot faster than I thought they would. This would be a great thing for Flanagan to show us because I know we didn’t get the full story of what happened.

Description: Summer H. Howell
Every adaptation of Stephen King’s book has always ended with Carrie’s death. Carrie survived her mother’s attack in this version so there is a lot that can be explored. But the main thing I want to see is how Carrie deals with that aftermath. Knowing your own mother tried to kill you is something you don’t come back from easily. I also know she’s harboring a lot of guilt. We need to see that. She massacred her classmates. And she thinks she killed her mother.
All of these are things that we would expect to affect her to the point where she’s experiencing some PTSD. We witnessed her have visions of her father all the time after his death. I would expect the same with her mom and her classmates. Especially Tommy Ross (Joel Oulette) because he was genuinely nice to her.
At the start of the series, Carrie was incredibly kind. I said she was a victim of her circumstances. All the bullying she went through and the creation of Carriered_ led her to make the decisions she did. Because of that, I know she’s struggling to deal with her actions. When she killed Chris and Billy, she immediately broke down crying when she came back to herself. That told me, as a viewer, she didn’t really want to do those things. Yes, I know she admitted to feeling good about using her powers to break Chris’s nose but that wasn’t murder. That’s not the person Carrie wants to be. I hope that we see that war within her.
Regarding Emaline, I want to see Carrie be more cautious in dealing with her. Emaline saved Carrie, but she also hasn’t been completely honest with Carrie about everything. Carrie doesn’t know Emaline. I know she feels like Emaline could be a friend, but she has a lot of questions to answer. Including what happened on prom night.
I’m also interested in seeing her reaction once she finds out that Adelaide killed her mother. Right now, Carrie thinks her mother died in the house. When she learns her mother survived only to be killed later, how will she feel? Will she have regrets? and will she want revenge?

Who Is Adelaide?

Speaking of Adelaide, I want to know who she is.
She’s very interested in Carrie. That was apparent as she interviewed Sue, Tina (Josie Totah), and Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). Her questions were pushy and not typical of a regular documentarian. Especially because the questions she asked Margaret indicated she was looking for Carrie. Margaret didn’t tell her because, first and foremost, she didn’t know where she was, but second, despite what happened between her and Carrie, she is still her daughter, and she wanted to protect her.
Margaret sensed that Adelaide did not have good intentions. And she was right because once she didn’t give Adelaide information, she killed her. Adelaide knew Margaret had powers as well. And I want to know why Flanagan chose this change in the story.
We Need To Know More About Emaline

When Emaline showed up in Carrie Season 1, Episode 2, I knew she had power. I didn’t expect her to appear throughout the season as if she were a figment of Carrie’s imagination. That’s still a head-scratcher to me. And I haven’t gotten over her making Carrie look like she was talking to herself. A real friend wouldn’t have done that. I don’t feel like Carrie got enough of an explanation for that. And I also feel like she trusted Emaline a little too quickly after that. I want Carrie to demand more answers from Emaline. And I want to know more about why Emaline did what she did.
Part of me thinks she didn’t reveal herself because she’s hiding out from the mystery women, including Adelaide. Or maybe she’s hiding from Amanda, who I think is her mother. As I mentioned in my review for Carrie Season 1, Episode 8, I recommend going back to Season 1, Episode 7 and rewatching the opening sequence with Amanda and her little girl. We never hear her say the little girl’s name, but the little girl is astral projecting all over the house. I think that’s Emaline. And I also think maybe Amanda tried to kill her, and she got away. I believe Emaline has made it her mission to save others who have powers.
Will Sue Learn Carrie Survived?

Sue is one of the survivors of the prom night massacre. She knows something more went on. And she knows that other people were involved besides Carrie. That’s the reason Adelaide pushed her so hard. Adelaide tried to manipulate her into changing her memory of what she saw. But Sue didn’t let her. Sue has been traumatized by all that she witnessed but she’s never wavered in telling her story.
What does life look like for Sue in the aftermath of all that happened? She thinks Carrie is dead. But I’m sure she will learn she’s alive at some point. The question then becomes, will Sue want to help Carrie, or will she work to stop her? After all, Sue knows that Carrie is responsible for the massacre. Because people think Carrie was killed, nobody is looking for her. Including law enforcement. But once Sue knows she’s alive, will she tell anyone?
There were a lot of comments online from people who talked about the fact that even though Sue was nice to Carrie, it was performative, like Chris said. I agree to some extent. I believe Sue was nicer than Chris. But I also agree that she was also nice to Carrie out of guilt. She felt bad for the “Plug it Up” shower incident, so she overcompensated by being extra nice to Carrie. I think Sue even acknowledged that when she asked, “Why was it so alien?” that Carrie was kind without an agenda.
Ultimately, Carrie killed Sue’s friends. And she killed Tommy. So part of me feels like Sue will have some strong feelings about that. And I’m interested to see what a confrontation between Sue and Carrie would look like.
More Delainey Hayles

Delainey Hayles’ character Caitlin only appeared two times in Carrie. Once in Episode 1, first period, and then again in the finale. Both times, we didn’t see her enough. Nor did we have an explanation of who she is. All we know is that when Carrie’s power were triggered in the girls’ locker room, it hit her to the point her ears bled.
Why did Carrie’s power hit her so hard? And who is she? I know she has powers as well, but I didn’t think she got enough screen time for us to learn why she was invested in Carrie. Hopefully she will be back for season 2.
