The one thing that I will agree with Elizabeth Chambers on (probably the only thing) is why does it always have to be about Armie. Like legitimately, why? Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise, we get it. You wanted a hook. You brought people in with the intrigue over what happened between Elizabeth Chambers and Armie Hammer. But we’ve all moved on and whatever s*** he did in his private life, is between him and God.
And news flash – the viewing public is not God.
But here we are. I am watching the show and wanting to scream. I get that everyone is going to want to ask about the Armie article. But, me – I am going to try to not focus on that. It is hard to avoid as this episode has a lot of it.
We even open with it. Julian meets Elizabeth and TBH, I am glad that she has a friend. Everyone needs one. She even seems to be loyal to Julian, which is a wonderful thing. Loyalty is a good quality to have.
Yet when it comes to Chambers, I don’t know if I can really take loyalty seriously. It feels like she will turn on anyone on a dime, if it benefits her. And it also seems as if Julian is the same.
What I do have to say from the jump, is I liked Julian. I get that business and personal are two separate things. However, that being said, you don’t just shrug your shoulders and be like we’ll see what happens when someone wants to take a job from your friend and give it to you.
As we all know, Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise, seems like Chambers is trying to turn it into a commercial for Bird Bakery. Now, with Bird Bakery being a part of Mykonos (the restaurant), I get that the marketing needs to be in unison. However, people can learn to work together to get that in sync. Chambers wanting Frank to get rid of Cass and hire Julian. Eww, just eww.
You know, just a second ago I stated that work and personal are separate. BUT, what this move by Chambers shows is that she doesn’t know how to seperate the two. She knows how to backstab and looking at this episode, so does Julian.
Everyone on this show talks about how the island is so small and that you don’t want to get a reputation, nor make enemies. However, that being said – how can anyone watch this episode and not think that Chambers and Julian deserve a reputation of backstabbing and being manipulative traitors with this episode.
Cause that’s what they show they are capable of.
While I have to journey back to the Armie thing for a second – this time it has to do with Courtney. Girl, we get it. We understand that Chambers thought you were one of Armie’s chicks. Let it go! Stop telling us about it. None of us believe that you were.
Now, that being said, Courtney is someone that I did like, but I am on the fence right now. Why? Well, I am old enough to know that people always talk with others about their friends, but this is all she seems to do. Instead of being open about who she is and allowing the viewing audience to get to know her, she instead, is focused on others or her whole Armie/Elizabeth issues.
Courtney going to play Pickleball with Craig, I enjoyed getting to know a little about both of them in these scenes. Craig used to be a player, but honestly, I feel like he still is. That’s before even knowing about his girlfriend and that he’s been in a relationship for like 18 months. I am saying that because the man seems to flirt with anything that walks.
And that is just disrespectful.
I do get the allure of Craig. He’s hot. He’s got an unbelievable accent. But that being said, there is nothing that makes a mans attractiveness fade like showing how he doesn’t know what loyalty and faithfulness is.
You don’t have to sleep with someone or make out with someone to be unfaithful. There is emotional unfaithfulness and that seems to be the road that Craig is on. It’s also questionable that he hasn’t introduced his girlfriend to his friends. It’s as if he wants to have his cake and eat it too.
Watching Craigs confessionals, you can see that he’s really into himself. There is a fine line between confidence and cockiness. Someone outta teach him that.
Craig and Courtney talking – I do like their relationship. It’s endearing. However, both need to reign in the judgements about others and realize that they aren’t judge, jury, and executioner.
Now, while it may seem that I am not loving this show, let me tell you I am. I am sure that these people are kind in real life (well except one, but you all know who I am talking about), but this editing, as well as the way they are answering questions isn’t doing them any favors.
Lets take Chelsea for instance.
Chelsea comes across as a woman who wants so desperately to be in love. She wants a great relationship and who doesn’t. Not hating on that.
I am sure that Tyson can be a good man to her. I am sure that he has a good side. Yet, I think that most of us can agree that when a man cheats on you, especially when he cheats with five women while you are pregnant, that’s the biggest red flag ever and you should run.
It’s great that he’s a good Dad. Yet, just because he’s a good Dad doesn’t mean that he’s a good boyfriend/husband/lover (or any other name to define a relationship).
Chelsea is frustrated that no one seems to believe in her and Tyson. Ummm girl, who would? Tyson has CHEATED and he hasn’t been the kindest man to you. I get that in private he’s good to you and other people don’t see it. However, Chelsea seems to be ignoring all of the bad things or the things that she doesn’t deserve.
When you are falling in love, of course it is going to be complicated. Love is. But it doesn’t have to be. I think that Chelsea is allowed to be frustrated, but I also think that she is more frustrated with herself that she can’t let go, versus being frustrated with everyone else for not liking Tyson.
That being said though, her friends need to just stop reiterating to her how much they don’t like him. They have voiced their opinion. Now it’s their job to be there for her.
But, one last thing I will say – when your Mama warns you against a man – you need to listen.
All of these people need to learn from Selita. When she’s asked about Armie, she won’t talk about. Silence is golden. We all know that it is, but these people don’t seem to know this.
When Courtney goes to Paddle Board Yoga with Aaron, and she sits and talks so much about Chelsea, I got frustrated. That’s your bestie. It doesn’t matter what she’s doing, you don’t talk about her with others. Especially not in the way you are.
I do believe that Courtney has the best of intentions, but I really am hoping that we get to see a different side of her. Because what we are seeing now, is well, just a victim and a pot stirrer. I don’t believe that is her intention at all. I think that Courtney is a good person, but she’s being edited to look as though she’s intimidated by others and as if she’s meek. I hope that she grows over the season.
The crew comes together for a pregame and a night out. I think that seeing them all together are some of my favorite moments. Why? Well, you realize that they all care deeply about each other.
However, Craigy. Sir, we need to have a talk. Viewers need to know that you remember that you are in a relationship, because it doesn’t seem that you do. At all. What it seems is that you don’t know how to be faithful.
And that’s kinda really sad to the viewer.
It feels like you haven’t introduced Charlotte to your friends, because you want to flirt and you’re afraid she’ll cramp your style. This makes the viewer look at you and wonder what kind of slime ball you are. You just don’t look like you’re a good guy at all.
And the way that you’re leading Natalie on. Sir, you are in a relationship! What you are doing and how you are acting is absolutely disrespectful and wrong. It just feels absolutely gross and I am wondering how you can think it is okay.
It looks like Tyson isn’t the only man on this show who is completely disrespectful to his significant other.
Craig, grow up.
Like I said earlier, loyalty is a huge thing. Seeing this episode, I have to admit I wondered if these people realize this.
OTHER THOUGHTS
- Elizabeth and Franks whole moment together – it was just gross how again, Elizabeth decides to try and screw over Cass. Frank saying he’ll meet with Julian is also ewww, because he should have loyalty to Cass.
- Chelsea saying that what her and Tyson have is genuine – I am really wondering what part of this relationship is genuine.
- Paddle Board Yoga looks too hard.
- Selita and the fashion show – well, I can’t wait to see it, but I am a little concerned about all that she wants. But that being said, I would love to see more of Selita in the show.
- Selita has a lot of jobs/interests. Inspired by her.
- We get to learn more about Aaron in this episode and I kinda loved that. He, like Craig though, needs to learn the difference between confidence and cockiness. He is way, way into himself.
