Grief is a strange concept. It’s a strange feeling. One that you really can’t define because everyone grieves in their own way.
The Good Half explores grief. It’s led by Nick Jonas and Brittany Snow – brother and sister – why are dealing with the loss of their Mom. The movie premiered at Tribeca.
In the movie, “Nick Jonas stars as Renn, an emotionally distant writer who returns to his hometown of Cleveland for his beloved mother’s funeral, after having spent years successfully avoiding interactions with his high-strung sister (Brittany Snow), bumbling but well-meaning father (Matt Walsh), and untrustworthy step-father (David Arquette). While in town, he forges a new relationship with a charming, energetic stranger (Alexandra Shipp) who pushes him to realize that he can’t avoid conflict forever — with his family or within himself.”
And as someone has experienced the loss of a parent, I found myself crying through out the trailer.
“It feels like there’s two halves of my life,” Renn (Jonas) says in the trailer to his sister.
Through tears she responds, “I wouldn’t trade my half for the whole world.”
Robert Schwartzman directs the film and Nick Jonas, Brittany Snow, David Arquette, Alexandra Shipp, Matt Walsh, and Elisabeth Shue all star.
Utopia and Fathom Events will release The Good Half in theaters July 23 and 25. We’re definitely going to be watching.
