From Dean saying no to pie, to Hitler jumping around like an energetic pre-schooler, Supernatural‘s “The One You’ve Been Waiting For” was chock-full with WTF moments. This episode goes to show you that no matter how serious of a situation something is, Supernatural can turn it around and make it into something more. And despite what’s happening with these Nazi bastards and the resurrection of Hitler, Supernatural let’s the characters drive the plot and not the other way around. That right there makes for a show that’ll last longer than all of us!
1. Dean denying himself pie.
This is the one true sign of the apocalypse. Dean Winchester, a man who loves stuffing his face with pie no matter what time of the day it is, and still manages to have a rocking body somehow, denied himself pie? This is a cause for concern! Mary’s absence is plaguing his mind and what if he denied himself pie because of how much it reminds him of the good old days with his mom? *sniffle* Don’t deny yourself the pie Dean! Mary will be back!
2. Surprise, you’re related to Hitler!
Supernatural hit it out of the park with Ellie Grant, played by Allison Paige. She was a flighty blabber mouth who could hold her own against Nazi crazies. In many ways I felt like I connected with Ellie more than any other female on Supernatural. She was us with her surprise and disbelief at the extraordinary. Especially when Nauhaus told her she had Hitler’s eyes. Who wouldn’t scream out for help?!
3. Sniffing out his prey.
When Nauhaus cleared away Ellie’s blood with his fancy hanky, I was ready for him to do a tracking spell with a map or something. (I might’ve watched Charmed lately.) To my surprise Nauhaus proved to be a bigger creeper by sniffing Ellie out. Imagine that conversation with your driver? “Yes, yes. Turn left. No right! I can smell Frau that way! Maybe if I open the window and stick my head out the window, it’ll work better!”
4. He’s had a tiring day is code for kill him. Thanks dad.
Nauhaus took fatherly disappointment to a whole new level when he ordered his goon to kill his son Christoph. After all the pressure he put on his kid he was willing to throw him away at the first sign of disobedience. Do I like Christoph? No. But I do understand living with a parent who tries to pressure you into being just like them. At the end of the day they don’t want a child, they want a clone of themselves to do their bidding. Christoph’s better off in Buffalo.
5. Handcuffing newbie to Baby?!
After last season’s episode titled “Baby” I’ve come to appreciate the Impala in a whole new way. It’s Sam and Dean’s home more than the bunker will ever be. So why did they leave mini Nazi in Baby? I’d handcuff him as far away from my home on wheels, as possible. What if he knew how to jump start cars?! What if he got out of his handcuffs and took Baby? My heart can’t even fathom the loss of Baby. Nope!
6. Hitler’s happy dance & laughing…
Every time I’ve seen Hitler on TV he’s been a serious and stoic man. Supernatural decided that that wasn’t good enough for them and made Hitler absolutely, positively, insane. Even I would’ve been side eying the Fuhrer when he started skipping around, making jokes, and laughing hysterically. Honestly, I’m going to contain my need to research and go with this version of him. He was a crazy, tyrannical, supremacist who like dogs. Woof, woof, woof.
7. Congratulations. You’ve killed Hitler, Dean!
Free drinks, tshirts, pie, and boasting till the end of his days. This is what’s in store for Dean Winchester for the rest of his life. (And Sam, who will be sitting right next to him, rolling his eyes while wearing a “My brother killed Hitler” shirt.) I expect this to be one of those things that’s joked about for seasons to come until these Nazi bastards return in season 15 or 20 of Supernatural. Cuz let’s be honest, this show’s only getting better with time and Voldemort taught us there’s always more than one Horcrux.
