I’ve loved Jennifer Garner since I watched her in Alias. She was like the original badass and I have to admit that even as I’ve seen her transition to more adult roles, I’ve still always thought of her as a badass. She’s kind of amazing.
That’s why I am excited that she’s joining the cast of Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda. The cast is already amazing with Katherine Langford, Nick Robinson, Alexandra Shipp and Logan Miller. Add Jennifer Garner to that and we’re cheering for this movie more than we already were.
Sixteen-year-old and not-so-openly gay Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: if he doesnโt play wingman for class clown Martin, his sexual identity will become everyoneโs business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy heโs been emailing, will be compromised.
With some messy dynamics emerging in his once tight-knit group of friends, and his email correspondence with Blue growing more flirtatious every day, Simonโs junior year has suddenly gotten all kinds of complicated. Now, change-averse Simon has to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before heโs pushed outโwithout alienating his friends, compromising himself, or fumbling a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy heโs never met.
Garner would play Simon’s mom.
Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen and Isaac Klausner will produce. Greg Berlanti is set to direct.
