As we’re now two weeks into this five month hiatus, all we can do at this point is speculate about what awaits our favorite characters on Arrow.
After a disappointing season 5, we’re left hoping that the writers will capitalize on the show’s strengths and hit some storylines that they’ve teased us with.
One of those storylines centers around Felicity’s involvement with hacktivist group, Helix, which led our favorite blonde genius down a dark rabbit hole in season 5. While it felt like that storyline was wrapped up pretty quickly — and without actually being wrapped up entirely — that’s because it was.
So should we expect to see some resolution with Helix? Like who is its leader, Cayden James? Can we expect Helix to pose a threat? Are they pissed at Felicity?
TVLine has some scoop from from Arrow executive producer Wendy Mericle that not only hints but confirms that Helix will in fact return at some point, as they have unfinished business with Felicity.
Having bailed on Felicity — immediately after using her to find and free their founder, superhacker Cayden James — Helix’s status is very much “a dangling thread, and we don’t like to leave those hanging around,” co-showrunner Wendy Mericle notes. “It’d be a great, sort of built-in story for Felicity to revisit these people, who are not very happy with her, let’s be honest. We left that open-ended on purpose, for sure.”
