Back in July we put together a list of seven things we’d like to see in Game of Thrones Season 7. Now that it’s in the books, here’s our scorecard for how we fared. And, to be honest, we did pretty well.
1. A Stark Family Reunion
We wrote: Arya is back in Westeros, and a reunion with her older sister and “brother” cannot be far away.

What happened: We cheered when Arya was reunited with Sansa, but cringed at the prickly moments that followed until the end of the season. The reunion with Bran was more subdued; he apparently suffers emotional constipation as a side effect of being the Three-Eyed Raven. But Jon was already off to Dragonstone. A Jon/Arya reunion goes on our list of “Things We’re Looking Forward To In Season 8.”
Our score: Half a point.
2. A Targaryen family meeting
We wrote: Last season, we learned that Jon is actually Daenerys’ nephew. What will happen when these two meet?

What happened: Sparks flew!
Our score: One point.
3. DRAGONS IN BATTLE!
We wrote: Need I say more?

What happened: Dragons. In battle. On BOTH sides!
Our score: One point.
4. Asha Greyjoy meeting the Sand Snakes.
We wrote: Four fierce women, all allied with the Mother of Dragons. The Knights of Westeros won’t know what hit ‘em.

What happened: The promising premise was sunk by Euron Greyjoy in the second episode. We did see them together, though, so…
Our score: One point.
5. The return of long-missing characters.
We wrote: We haven’t seen Gendry Waters, the bastard son of Robert Baratheon, since Season 3 when he escaped from Dragonstone. He’s the last of the Baratheons and may have a role to play in the battle for Westeros. It’s been even longer since we’ve seen Arya’s direwolf Nymeria, driven off in Season 1 to save her life.

What happened: We got a brief appearance by Nymeria, who then left to rule her pack. And then we got Gendry. But did Gendry leave Eastwatch before the Night King and his army struck?
Our score: One point.
6. Sansa and Tyrion meeting again.
We wrote: Technically, these two are still married. And they’ve both grown, suffered and changed in the years since they’ve seen each other. Could they have grown into a marriage of equals?

What happened: These two did not meet this season, though Tyrion spoke somewhat fondly about Sansa to Jon. Doesn’t look like the fondness is returned; Sansa spoke of marrying her enemies not once but twice. Add their reunion to the Season 8 list.
Our score: 0 points.
7. Cersei getting her due.
We wrote: Jaime came home in time to see Cersei get crowned, after the death of their last child. Once he knows that Cersei destroyed the Great Sept, leading to Tommen’s suicide, will Jaime add Queenslayer to his list of titles?

What happened: No deadly payback to Cersei this season, but Jaime did walk away from her… and possibly from their unborn child. It probably shouldn’t come as a surprise; there will be six episodes in Season 8 and it won’t all be swinging swords against the undead. Palace intrigue is half the fun of Game of Thrones and now that Littlefinger is (very satisfyingly) dead, we’ll need Cersei to provide that. Watching Arya cross Cersei off her list moves to the Season 8 list.
Our score: 0 points.
