Supernatural, the show that’ll never die, is set to return for it’s 13th season on The CW. With Mary gone, Castiel dead, and Jack in their care, the Winchesters are in for a hell of a season. There will be alternate universes, a new version of Michael to fight, and even an episode where Sam and Dean are animated and meet up with the Scooby Doo gang.
Keeping all of that in mind, here are 5 things we want from the upcoming season of Supernatural!
1. Representation, representation, representation
Supernatural has a problem with representation, always has. People of color are always villains, women don’t last long, and just this past season we saw a woman with a disability kick ass before being killed in a gruesome and frankly insulting way. It’s been 13 seasons, Supernatural. Wayward Sisters can’t be your answer to representation and diversity in this world. It needs to start on with you.
2. More fabulous Winchester hair

Each season of Supernatural can be easily defined by the hair the Winchesters sport, specifically Sam and sometimes Dean. We must continue this tradition and make this season recognizable via gorgeous Winchester locks. Will Sam finally sport a ponytail to hold that beautiful hair back? Will Dean let his hair and scruff grow out as he mourns his mother and Cas?
3. Answers as to where Castiel is

Like Sam and Dean there’s no way Supernatural would ever kill Castiel off. He’s a part of the family and he’s not going anywhere. That being said, Castiel is somewhere the writers have hinted at in previous seasons but that we’ve never actually seen. And while part of me fears that he’s in an alternate universe and our Castiel is gone, I’m trying to have a little faith in Supernatural and hope that they know how essential the bond between Castiel and the Winchesters truly is.
4. Romances for both Sam & Dean
It would be nice for the boys to finally get a chance at love without it being torn away by supernatural circumstances and death. Sam and Dean are wonderful, caring, and dedicated fighters who save the world time in and time again. They deserve a little TLC and some time with someone who knows them intimately and that they can open themselves up to. It’s been 13 seasons, the time has come and we’re tired of having romances and intimacy dangled in front of our faces before they’re rudely taken away.
5. AU versions of Sam & Dean
With Jack opening up a rift to a different universe there’s the possibility that he’ll do it again and throw us into vastly different worlds. And if there’s an alternate version of Bobby in the world we went to last season, then there have to be other versions of Sam and Dean out there. Maybe one version of them never became hunters and lived a beautiful AU life that you only see in fanfics. Or maybe Sam ended up being a L’oreal hair model while Dean became a sexy doctor. The sky’s the limit!
Bonus: An appearance by JD Morgan

I know that Morgan is busy on The Walking Dead and that his mantle as Negan is top priority. That being said, I’d still love to see him return to Supernatural for just an episode or a small arc. John was an integral part of who these boys ended up being and I think he would be proud of how much they’ve accomplished in this world and how hard they’ve fought. Plus, wouldn’t it be cool to see Mary and John reunite after such a long time? I think it would.
