There are some movies that just stick with you and The Mighty Ducks is one of those movies.
The ‘90s film franchise — received a straight-to-series 10-episode order from Disney+. We’re excited that one of the originals is returning.
Emilio Estevez is returning as Coach Bombay.
“Once a Duck, always a Duck!,” Estevez exclaimed in a statement. “After 25 years, I am delighted to lace up my skates, put on Coach Bombay’s jacket and return to play the iconic character for this new chapter in The Mighty Ducks franchise. Likewise, I am thrilled to return to my old stomping grounds with my friends at Disney and Steve Brill, the original creator of the franchise, to join them on their exciting new platform, Disney+.”
The series will be set in present day Minnesota, where The Mighty Ducks have grown to be a powerhouse youth hockey team. When 12 year old Evan is cut from the Ducks, he and his Mama, Alex build their own team of misfits to challenge the world of ultra competitive world of youth sports. With the help of Bombay, they discover what playing for the love of the game is like.
Estevez will also serve as an EP.
The Mighty Ducks also stars Brady Noon, Swayam Bhatia, Taegen Burns, Julee Cerda, Bella Higginbotham, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Maxwell Simkins and De’Jon Watts.
