Season 6, Episode 1: “Into the Void”
The sixth season of the show has a slightly different formula from years past, as it is comprised of two “graphic novels” with Crisis on Infinite Earths in between. The premiere episode of the season addressed the loss Westallen faced the year before and introduced the villain for the first half, Bloodwork.
Season 6, Episode 2: “A Flash of the Lightning”
After seeing that Crisis will occur much sooner than expected, Barry travels to Earth-3, where he meets Jay Garrick and Joan Williams – a doppelganger of his mom. While on this Earth, he sees the consequences that will result if he tries to stop Crisis and comes to accept his fate.
Crossover: “Crisis on Infinite Earths”
Because it is the storyline that is supposed to be of such importance to The Flash series, and because it establishes the reason for the destruction of the multiverse, multi-part Crisis on Infinite Earths is included on this list. However, since the story that has been like a sword of Damocles hanging over the Flash since the pilot – and should therefore be so important to his character – ends up having very little to do with Barry at all, the degree to which it is vital to the season or the series is arguable at best. That said, it does explain how Supergirl is now on Flash’s Earth and why there is no more multiverse. And I guess that might be important knowledge to have. Maybe.
Season 6, Episode 10: “Marathon”
The episode that launched the second “graphic novel” of the season is an important entry on this list because it establishes Black Hole, the supposed villain for the second half of the season, and the predicament in which Iris unexpectedly finds herself.
Season 6, Episode 14: “Death of the Speed Force”
If you find yourself liking Ralph and want to see how he meets the future love of his life, Sue, watch episode 12, “A Girl Named Sue.” Otherwise, skip to this one, where Wally returns and the two speedsters witness the death of the speed force.
What that, you should be caught up with what you need to know to follow the series moving forward. Of course, if you’re a die-hard Westallen fan and want to catch all of their best moments, there are several episodes you’ll want to catch that aren’t included in this list.
