I think it’s an understatement to say that we are living in weird times but that shouldn’t be an excuse for us to feel down. That’s why I’ve gathered 5 movies to get you in a better mood! 

Whether you are tired of watching the news or tired of watching the same old movies today’s list is sure to lift your spirits. After all, this is the Lifestyle Lift segment! 

1. The Little Prince (2015)

An old Aviator introduces a girl, our main character, to a world where she rediscovers her childhood, even though she’s already a child, and learns that it’s human connections that matter most, and that it is only with heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.

This movie brings back memories of our own childhood with a timeless story that revolves around a timeless book, The little Prince

2. Billy Elliot (2000)

The life of 11-year-old Billy Elliot, a coal miner’s son in Northern England, is forever changed one day when he stumbles upon a ballet class during his weekly boxing lesson. Before long, he finds himself in dance, demonstrating the kind of raw talent seldom seen by the class’ exacting instructor, Mrs. Wilkinson.

A peculiar tale that reminds us of the wonders of being a child! After a wish turns 12-year-old Josh Baskin into a 30-year-old man, he heads to New York City and gets a low-level job at MacMillen Toy Company.

A chance encounter with the owner of the company leads to a promotion testing new toys. Soon a fellow employee, Susan Lawrence, takes a romantic interest in Josh.

However, the pressure of living as an adult begins to overwhelm him, and he longs to return to his simple, former life as a boy.

Andy Stitzer is an amiable single guy who works at a big-box store. Living alone, 40-year-old Andy spends his free time playing video games and curating his action-figure collection.

Despite his age, Andy has never had sex, so his friends, including the laid-back David, push Andy towards losing his virginity. While attempting to get over his awkwardness around female customers, Andy meets local shop owner Trish, and they begin a tentative romance.

5. My Neighbor Totoro (1988)

My neighbor Totoro is all you could ask for in these times. This anime film is calming, enjoyable, and heartwarming. The film will leave you feeling like you just received a hug from the cuddly giant Totoro. 

This acclaimed animated tale by director Hayao Miyazaki follows schoolgirl Satsuke and her younger sister, Mei, as they settle into an old country house with their father and wait for their mother to recover from an illness in an area hospital.

As the sisters explore their new home, they encounter and befriend playful spirits in their house and the nearby forest, most notably the massive cuddly creature known as Totoro.
