“What is the worst thing you’ve ever done?”
That is the question in the film Confessional.
According to an article released by rue-morgue.com the film directed by author B.T. Gottfred (The Nerdy and the Dirty, The Handsome Girl & Her Beautiful Boy) is heading to the horror streaming service Shudder next month. I am super excited to hear this news. Last March, Confessional premiered at the Method Fest Film Festival and I had the privilege of attending. Since it’s debut, I have been keeping my eyes, and ears open for any and all news about a release date.
The Author/Director took to his Instagram to make the announcement.
What it’s about:
After two mysterious deaths at a college on the same night, seven students, somehow connected, receive invitations to a confessional booth hidden on the campus. Their confessions slowly unveil the truth behind, not only the deaths, the booth as well. The dark, twisty, dialogue-driven and emotionally-complex mystery is entirely confined to the video confessional.
Now take a look at the trailer below:
The concept behind this film is so intriguing. Everything takes place entirely in the confessional booth. That’s no easy feat in my opinion. The actors have long monologues and the camera stays focused on them in long continuous shots.
The cast is all incredibly talented and consists of; Jess Gabor (Shameless), Brandon Larracuente (Party Of Five), Vanessa Marano (Switched At Birth), and Marcus Scribner (Black-ish). Lucas Adams, Paris Berelc, Annalisa Cochrane, Jake Short, and Mia Xitlali also star. It’s no surprise they won The Essentia award for Best Ensemble Cast.
I thoroughly enjoyed Confessional and cannot wait for others to see it. It’s an extremely enthralling movie that will have you guessing until the very end.
Confessional will be available to stream May 28th on Shudder.
