The words trust and Marvel don’t exactly go together, especially when it comes to LGBTQ+ relationships. Not that we trust them in general these days, after the debacle that was Endgame, but hey, remember when they promised us some LGBTQ+ representation in that movie and all we got was a glorified cameo by director Joe Russo where he talked about a same-sex partner?
Yeah, I remember. Not forgetting anytime soon.
But Eternals is coming – at some point – and with it the promise of a LGBTQ+ main character. Except there’s still talk about how much of a focus it will be. Talk Kevin Feige, and the people at Marvel don’t seem to be too happy about. Except, have they earned the benefit of the doubt?
No, they haven’t.
They took forever to give us Black Panther, forever and a half to give us Captain Marvel, and only in the year of our pandemic 2020 are we getting a Black Widow movie. So, yeah, Marvel doesn’t get our trust.
Which doesn’t mean we won’t rejoice if they do a good job. We absolutely will. All we’re saying is, wait till you’ve done good a few times before you start asking for blind trust.
Fair?
