PaleyFest Fall TV Previews day is here! Thanks to PaleyFest and Damian Holbrook we can take a look at what awaits us in the new season of television. All the panels are available here, but there is a show that has caught our attention for its current, different plot and for its young cast. We’re talking about Alex Rider. But before we chat about this up-and-coming show, let’s get down to business.
Here we go!
Alex Rider, the first original drama series from IMDb TV, Amazon’s free streaming service, is a coming of age spy-thriller series based on the best-selling, global phenomenon book franchise written by Anthony Horowitz, which has sold over 20 million copies worldwide. The series follows Alex Rider, a London based teenager who has unknowingly been trained since childhood for the dangerous world of espionage.
Pressured to help investigate his uncle’s death, and how it connects to the assassination of two high-profile billionaires, Alex reluctantly assumes a new identity and goes undercover in a remote boarding school called Point Blanc. Isolated far above the snowline in the French Alps, Point Blanc claims to set the troubled teenage children of the ultra-rich back onto the right track. As Alex digs deeper, he discovers the students are in fact the subjects of a disturbing plan which Alex will have to risk his life to stop. The season is based on the second book in the franchise, Point Blank.
And … here’s the trailer!
As you already know, this show is an adaptation of a successful literary saga (Welcome Game of Thrones and Harry Potter feels!) And is set to be a bombshell, just like the books on which it is based.
This show caught our attention because of its plot. Few productions or books dare to mix youth with espionage, mystery and a James Bond style. But its panel at PaleyFest has captivated us and we had to write about it!
In the panel, you can see the passion with which each actor, actress, producers, writers and even the author of the literary saga is involved in this project. We can feel their enthusiasm, their desire to do justice to the original story and, at the same time, to start their own path. Their emotion is something that is felt on ours skin. They want to do this for the fans and they will do their best so that the fans can see their favorite characters beyond their imagination.
Also, when I have seen it, it has been impossible for me not to think about Harry Potter. I mean, this cast is so young … and the way they have explained that when they met, the magic just arose and they knew it was them … it just reminded me of what happened when The Golden Trio met. These Harry Potter vibes continue throughout the panel.

I was delighted to hear the way this cast was chosen and I have loved even more to see these guys so excited about the project. You can tell that they admire their characters, they understand them and they enjoy putting themselves in their shoes. I like that the actors, producers and writers explain their own experience in this project. Their favorite scene, the one that cost them the most, the one that they had the most fun with … it helps to feel closer to the story itself. Also, it is a pleasure to see what these characters and these books meant to each of them.
They themselves are fans of these books, of these characters. They were their heroes while they grew up, they accompanied them at different times in their lives and it shows, it is clear to me the way in which they are also fans and that it is not a simple role for them. They have drank this story since they were little and now they have the privilege of becoming their favorite characters, of experiencing their experiences and their lives, of putting themselves in their shoes and both the cast and the crew are aware of this privilege.
They speak so carefully about this story, with so much admiration, with so much love. That is the main reason why we know that they will give their best to make this story memorable. And we’re sure that they will succeed.
But the best way to understand what we’re talking about is to watch the Alex Rider panel that is available here.
