We’re all looking for a pick me up these days. And that can look like a bunch of different things to a lot of people. For me, the idea of Harry Potter reading the first chapter of, well, Harry Potter to me, is the perfect thing to make me smile during quarantine.
And we’ve got more to look forward to!
The whole thing is part of the Harry Potter at home initiative, which looks “to bring the magic into people’s homes, casting a Banishing Charm on boredom.” The project combines the resources of Harry Potter UK and US publishers Bloomsbury and Scholastic, Pottermore Publishing, leading spoken-word producer and provider Audible, library supplier OverDrive, streaming platform Spotify, and WizardingWorld.com.
You can find the first chapter, read by Daniel Radcliffe himself, here. You can also listen on Spotify here.
The announcement of the read-along gave us a glimpse of some of the starts we can expect for the rest of the chapters of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (or Philosopher’s Stone, depending on where you live).
The read-along features some artwork depicting scenes from the first chapter. And fans can get involved in subsequent chapters by sending their interpretations via the hashtag #HarryPotterAtHome to @WizardingWorld’s Twitter account.
How about it, Harry Potter fans! Are you excited?
