By Night’s End is almost here! You already know we love this movie and we’re sure you will love it too. We can’t wait for you to see it! To get you started, here’s our advanced, spoiler-free review of the movie. Here we go!
After our exclusive interview with By Night’s End star Michelle Rose, you already know that her character, Heather, faces many emotional challenges throughout the movie. However, what you don’t know is that the catalyst for us to discover Heather’s story is an unwanted visit. One night, Heather and her husband must face a decision that will mark them forever.
Difficult decisions have the virtue of showing who we are. This is what By Night’s End shows us. Both react differently to the same situation, however, at the end of the day they take the same attitude to a decision that, although questionable, is understandable and humane. Perhaps, one of us would have made the same decision. But let’s save this interesting conversation for when you know exactly what we’re talking about.
This decision is the common thread of the film, but not its main plot. The plot itself is about a marriage with communication problems, struggling with their own demons, with their own losses and just … trying to find themselves in the middle of the road.

Heather is a sergeant in the US Army who has just returned home from a traumatic experience in Iraq. And she has these panic attacks where she can’t breathe or think because of everything she went through there. She has post traumatic stress syndrome and she really wants to talk, she wants to open up to her husband because he feels her distant and wants to reach her … and she is aware of that, loves him and also wants to reach him, but she doesn’t feel capable.
It’s a very brave subject because most fiction stories tend to ignore this problem. But it is a reality and By Night’s End shows it to us in a totally heartbreaking and real way.
Furthermore, Iraq is not the only demon hovering over this couple. They have both had to face a loss that no one should ever face and are simply trying to pick up the pieces and put them together. They’re fighting not to break for good. They’re struggling to catch up, hold hands, and ride out the storm together.
Heather is a badass in every way. Physically and emotionally. She’s brave. And the story that this movie presents us is human, it’s raw, it’s brave and it’s real. We identify with the reactions of the characters, with their decisions and their emotions. Tears will escape you in the most emotional scenes. That’s what happened to me.

But Heather is not the only one with a story to tell. Her husband also tries to survive in a world that he no longer feels is his. For him, it is as if the ground has been torn from under his feet and thrown into an unknown world, gray and empty. That makes him make a decision that will change everything forever but, at the same time, it ends up bringing him together again with his wife, whom he thought lost in the midst of all the pain and unsaid things.
As if this were not enough, to all these emotional challenges, a mystery is added that will start this whole story and the action that characterizes each frame in the film. Seriously, the stunts are brilliant, the script is snappy, and the directing is masterful.
By Night’s End bet high. And the result could not be better.
