We’ve come to the end of the season, and if you’re like me – you remember all of the reasons that you love Emily in Paris, the things that you want to come out of the show, and all of the people that you are rooting for.
And the best thing about this show is that it built upon every single episode. It didn’t just stop and be like well, here’s another pretty person. It had several storylines that all found a way to be complimentary to each other and bring it to an ending that has everything – complications, drama, and a million questions.
Yes, we’re definitely going to need a season two.
MATHIEU IS TOO PERFECT
Fashion week. Though I have never been to Paris Fashion Week – the New York one has been enough. It’s overwhelming.
I feel like I love watching any meal scene with Emily and Mindy, because they talk and give it to you straight, just like anyone would do with their friends. It feels like you’re watching your girlfriends and you’re pissed that you’re late for brunch.
As we remember, Mindys friends from China came in and took her to a bar to sing. That bar offered Mindy a job singing two nights a week. Mindy needs the Duponts (who she nannies for) to give her the nights off to sing, but she doesn’t know if they will because they are conservative. She just can’t tell them the truth.
Emily is saved quickly – or you know – punished, cause Mathieu texts her and tells her to meet him at La Pause.
Mindy, being the good friend that she is, tells Emily that she hopes Emily will kiss him again. Emily says she tells her too much and she gets up to leave, causing the crowd to swarm the table thinking Mindy is leaving too.
Personally, I think that the most attractive thing about Mathieu is the size of his bank account. Sure, he’s conventionally hot, but like the dude needs a hair cut. He needs to stop trying to look like he’s Mr. Banks and realize that no one wants your face that close to them all the time. Like what if you didn’t brush your teeth?
Emily goes to meet Mathieu and he’s brought a boat. Dude is really trying to bring out the moves today, but still has that vest and tie on. He’s either got really great abs or is wearing a corset and I haven’t figured out which one it is yet.
Don’t get me wrong – the day on the boat would do it for me and my panties would probably drop. Not that I would think about the fact that I was with Mathieu, but sometimes you have to use whatever dick is available and imagine someone elses face on it. It’s all about survival.
Here’s my other issue – Emily is so into work, she’s got to know that Sylvie would not approve of any of this. Do I think that your boss should tell you who to date? No. But I don’t know French customs and maybe you don’t want to fall on certain penises.
Time on the boat is done and Emily and Mathieu are walking. It’s a Paris night, all romantical and shit, and of course work comes up. Emily should be concentrating on where she is.
No lie, I applauded when they finally went back to Mathieu’s apartment and she saw his real go to move. That view from his balcony would make anyone weak in the knees. But when they kiss, this shit just seems off. There is no chemistry and while I can respect this show trying to create a love triangle, it’s not needed.
Because anyone can see where the chemistry really lies.
It’s one of those times that I was actually thrilled that someone interrupted a love scene. Pierre called and Mathieu is needed to go to him right away.
WAIT SHE’S WHAT?
I am always shocked when Sylvie is happy to see Emily. Look – I have a love/hate relationship with Sylvie, but I think that she is so caught up in her own drama that she doesn’t see what is happening. She also is so jealous of Emily that it makes me not like her.
But as Sylvie tells Emily that they have to shake things up and Emily is trying her best to tell her something, of course Antoine is there. That man ruins everything. I don’t care how much sex appeal you have, know your place.

Antoine is trying to talk to Sylvie in the meeting and she’s not having it. Emily is only thinking about the show and is trying to contact Mathieu. Luc wants everyone to pay attention as he’s leading the meeting. And just as soon as Luc has got everyone half paying attention, Julian freaks out.
Emily should have told Sylvie about all that she knew, because now she’s hearing it a different way. Women’s Wear Daily says that Pierre has cancelled his show and Julian has broken the news.
Sylvie says it’s not possible. But, I hate to break it to her, it is possible. Emily should have told her when she came in, not having her hear it this way. And when Emily says that “Mat” had told her last night it was a possibility – I am surprised that Sylvie didn’t fly across the table and knock her out. But when Mathieu calls, she grabs that phone out of Emily’s hand quickly.
Am I the only one that would have an issue with this? Like, you don’t mess with my phone. You just don’t do it. That’s my whole life in one little machine and you don’t get it.
But I do understand why Sylvie did it. Mathieu tells her that Pierre has cancelled his show. Pierre says the new collection is basic and doesn’t want to show it. He tried doing a run through and Pierre wasn’t having it. Sylvie says to please tell her if there is any change.
Sylvie hangs up the phone and I swear to the man above, I wasn’t even high, when I looked at Sylvie’s face I thought I saw the face of the devil. She asked Emily if she knows what she’s done. She convinced Pierre to donate a dress that got destroyed that has shaken his confidence so bad that he now doesn’t want to have a show at fashion week for the first time in three decades. Then she accuses Emily of sleeping with Mathieu.
I have to say this. Emily didn’t do anything wrong when it came to the dress. She didn’t know that would happen and so in my opinion, I feel like it is really unfair to accuse her of ruining everything. Sylvie should have been marching her ass down to Grey Space and kicked the shit out of them.
Sylvie says that this is a fashion designer without a fashion show, which is almost as meaningless as an American who doesn’t speak French at a French marketing firm. I can see the point, but I think that’s not completely true.
Sylvie fires Emily and tells her to clear out her desk and never show her face again.
If I was fired, I would burst out in tears. Emily is strong and she goes to sit at her desk and really does look destroyed. Her work is her life.
Luc and Julian ask if she’s okay, because she does look like she found out someone died. But she tells them that she got fired. There is this emptiness in her eyes, this look of surprise. Yet these two always know how to fix anything.
Luc and Julian tell her not to worry, it’s impossible to fire someone in France. It takes months and sometimes even years. Ummm… I get her emotions because it’s not that hard in the US. The boys tells her they will never leave her, but they run away when Sylvie comes out.
Gotta laugh, cause they know that they don’t want to fuck with a woman in a bad mood.
HE’S LEAVING?
Oh the drama. Lots and lots of drama.
There is no secret that I am team Emily and Gabriel, so when I see Camille and Gabriel fighting I was a little torn. See, I like Camille and so I feel like an asshole that I don’t want her and Gabriel together. But I also don’t think what he’s doing right now is fair and I also don’t think her reaction is fair.
Gabriel has found a restaurant that he can afford. The restaurant is in Normandy and he’s decided that he’s leaving the next week.
I’m all for anyone achieving their dreams and Gabriel has every right to chase his. But like, give a bitch a heads up and some time.
Camille calls him selfish and she’s not wrong. So is she though, and she’s really pissed off so she doesn’t see that. Emily is mad, surprised and hurt too, but she has to cover it up. After all, you don’t want your friend to see you’re in love with her boyfriend.
She asks what Camille is going to do, which hey – is a scary question because it’s one that opens up a can of worms and you have to be prepared for a long ass conversation. And I mean no offense to my friends, but I don’t like to talk.
Cami says she can either move across the country and leave her life behind or it’s his way of breaking up. She is going to parents house to think and tells Em she’s a good friend.
No, no. That friend wants your mans penis.
Emily does have a more level head than Camille, but I also think that’s because she understands following her dreams. Gabriel is excited for the possibilities. Does he want to leave Paris? No. But sometimes your dreams take you to Normandy to own a little restaurant next to a Michelin star restaurant that will have an overflow and those people will need a place to eat.
BASIC DOESN’T GET FIRED
It takes a lot of courage to show up when you’ve been fired. But Emily takes Julian and Luc’s advice and comes in. Sylvie has counted on her not knowing how hard it is to fire someone and that she doesn’t have the backbone to stand up for herself.
Sylvie, you are so intimidating, but hey, Emily will surprise you. She tells Sylvie that she has a responsibility to her clients and until the paperwork is done she will be there. Sylvie asks Julian for a copy of the paperwork to move it along.
We get it Sylvie, you don’t like the younger model.
Luc tells Sylvie that heading up Antoines campaign isn’t for him because they are two alpha males. Yes, I laughed at that too. But hey, we are all who we believe that we are. Emily says she’d be happy to help. Sylvie says she doesn’t work there, but agrees that she can do it because it will keep her busy until her termination is complete.
I have to admit that I love Luc. I think that he is hilarious, but also he has a way with people. A certain charm that no one else has.
As if Emily didn’t have enough issues – Grey Space is all up in her business again. They send her an invite and they are taking over Pierre’s space. She immediately calls Mathieu, and first let me say he’s really quite easy to get ahold of. Homie has not learned how to play hard to get, but that’s because Emily makes him hard in his pants.
She tells him that Grey Space has sent her an invite and he says that they have sent Pierre one too. Pierre is manic and asking for her. Sylvie overhears her saying she’s going and tells Emily no. But finally just says she’s going with.

Lord, I have never seen Pierre so happy. Dude could pass as drunk or on molly. You take your pick. He says he’s been sleep walking for too long and Emily has inspired him. He shows the design and Emily says it’s amazing. Sylvie looks appalled.
Pierre wants the show. Mathieu reminds him, oh so bluntly, that he forfeited the venue. Emily says she has an idea, and tells him to work on the clothes, they’ll work on venue.
I admire the fact that Emily always has a solution for everything, but hey – we all can’t give up all the time.
IDEAS AND CHANGES
Walking back Sylvie asks Emily for her idea. Emily says she hasn’t thought of it yet. I love that Sylvie freaks out, because I would have to. But we can all learn how to freak out from Sylvie, because she does it with such grace.
Emily looks at Instagram, which you know we all do when our boss is talking to us. She sees that Grey Space has hijacked Pierres’s former venue. Just imagine I am inserting a “why are you so obsessed with me” gif here, but I am not going to because at this point, I don’t want to look for one.
Emily says they need to look at things from a different perspective. Sylvie says that there is no way that they can find a venue, but Emily says they have one.
You should know from watching this show, that when things get busy, they get chaotic. Also, if you’re working at home right now during the pandemic, you will know that as you are working – someone will interrupt.
First person to do that is Mindy. She’s been fired for taking the job at the drag club singing two nights a week. This means that she needs a place to live and apparently, that is with Emily. And of course Emily is happy to have her – because this is Emily.
As Mindy’s getting changed in the bathroom, and we’re all wondering how long she’s gonna last living there having to walk up five flights – Gabriel knocks on door. God, that man – just the sight of him makes ovaries explode.
He brings Emily a present and gives her the skillet they made an omelette in. Like a sentimental man? Could he get any more perfect? He’s flirty and staring at Emily like he’d like to throw her on the bed and pound her all the way to Normandy, if you know what I mean.
The next day will be his last night at the restaurant and he wants Emily to come. She asks about him and Camille, because I’m assuming she wants him to pound her all the way to Normandy too. He says that they want different things. They’ve broken up.
Gabriel leaves and I’m the asshole yelling for her to follow him.
Mindy overhears the whole thing and Emily tells her why he’s moving. Mindy tries to convince her to go after Gabriel. I know you are thinking like I am – you didn’t think you could love Mindy more, but you do at this moment. She’s the BFF we all want and need.
GARBAGE TRUCKS
It’s the next day and in true amazing shit, Emily has managed to orchestrate a publicity stunt. Grey Space may have overtaken Pierre’s space, but he’s taking it back by “performance art” and having his basic bitch designs and models come out of a garbage truck.

I’m just wanting to know where they found a clean garbage truck.
The publicity stunt went well and then where else should they go but Gabriel’s restaurant? It looks like the perfect night and everyone is having a great time. That is until Antoine and his wife come in. Antoines wife sits down and tells Emily that she’ll be a much better fit for Antoine, she approves of it.
Approves of what? Your husband taking her as a mistress? No bitch, Emily ain’t available for old man dick.
Gabriel is saying goodbye to everyone and you see this loneliness in his face. But I have an issue with what happens next – Antoine needs to learn his place. Antoine talks to Gabriel about him leaving, learns about the restaurant being for sale, and Gabriel says buying the restaurant is too expensive. Antoine says that is what investors are for and that he understands the complications of taking money from a girlfriend.
Gabriel says he doesn’t think that there is anything left for him in Paris anymore, as he looks at Emily leaving. And when he says goodbye to her, I felt an invisible tear fall down my cheek because he looked as though he was leaving half his heart.
JUST GET TOGETHER ALREADY!
It wasn’t long before my wish is granted. Emily goes home, pours herself a glass of wine, sees Gabriel putting away chairs and the next thing you know – she’s pounding on the door to the restaurant. THAT MY FRIENDS IS LOVE!
Why do I say that? Because bitch ran down five flights of stairs. There is NO ONE I would do that for. And then going back up four flights to have an incredible night of sex? Well, that I may do.
He tells her he’s thought about this so many times and she admits that she has too. She tells him she doesn’t think that she should see him again. But at least they had this one perfect thing.
She just doesn’t want to hurt Camille.
HE’S SUPPOSED TO BE GONE
Emily is at office the next day and Sylvie comes rushing in. I would be a little scared too – seeing Sylvie coming for me. I would be trying to cover my ass. But as Emily starts to talk, Sylvie tells Em to shut up and listen. See, she decided not to fire her.
Not shocked. She saved the shit you thought she ruined Sylvie. Emily apparently has potential but lacks polish and Sylvie won’t be easy on her anymore.
Win for team Emily.
it’s time to go home and if I was her, I would be drinking a bottle of wine on the walk. Too much shit has happened and the man I love was supposed to be gone. And I say supposed to be – because all of the sudden, Antoine is saying hi to Emily and Gabriel is walking out of the restaurant.
Antoine wants to back Gabriel in the restaurant – Antoine says Gabriel belongs in Paris. He’s too talented to be in Normandy.
Gabriel is staying. Em looks happy and scared. Will she be able to stay away from him? How does this change things? What about Camille? Well don’t you worry Emily, she wants to talk.
