Apparently movies said “it’s sad hours over here.” First, the trailer for All My Life had us crying, and now, the trailer for Our Friend is doing the exact same thing.
We’re all a little emotional right now, with everything that is happening in the world. It’s been a rough eight months and what this whole situation has taught us is how important it is to have great friends around. A good friend is there for you in all of your ups and downs and will support you through any and everything.
The trailer for Our Friend is a reminder of that.
Based on Matt Teague’s award-winning 2015 Esquire article titled “The Friend: Love Is Not a Big Enough Word,” Our Friend tells the inspiring and extraordinary true story of the Teague family—journalist Matt (Casey Affleck), his vibrant wife Nicole (Dakota Johnson), and their two young daughters—and how their lives are upended by Nicole’s heartbreaking diagnosis of terminal cancer. As Matt’s responsibilities as caretaker and parent become increasingly overwhelming, the couple’s best friend Dane Faucheux (Jason Segel) offers to come and help out. As Dane puts his life on hold to stay with his friends, the impact of this life altering decision proves greater and more profound than anyone could have imagined.
A friend literally dropping everything to be by your side in your time of need? Yeah, this movie is going to be a tear-jerker for sure. Get those tissues ready.
