If you’re like me, Judy Blume helped define a large portion of your childhood. Her books taught you about life, love, and everything in between.
And one book that was a big thing in my life was Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret?. If you are a girl and experiencing “becoming a woman” aka getting your period, the book was required reading for life.
The adaptation of the book is coming and one of my favorites has signed on to the cast. Rachel McAdams has signed on to be Margaret’s mom. But who is playing Margaret? Abby Ryder Forston has signed on for that role, “a sixth-grade girl who is going through puberty and searches the universe for any answers she can find.”
The book has been around since 1970, but Blume never allowed an adaptation of the book, until now.
“Abby is funny and tender, strong yet vulnerable. She IS Margaret,” Blume said to Variety. “And Rachel — wow! — does it get any better? A funny, loving, sexy, real woman who is also a mom. I can’t wait to see these two playing mother and daughter. It all began with trusting Kelly and Jim and they’ve proven how much this project means to them, which means everything to me.”
We’re definitely excited for this adaptation and can’t wait to see these two in the adaptation.
Have you read the book? What’s your favorite Judy Blume book?
