I watched In the Heights what feels like forever and a half ago, in 2007, on its off-Broadway run. I remember it as a memorable, if slightly baffling experience. I wasn’t used to seeing myself on any kind of property, and it was both immensely gratifying and somewhat hard to process. Why did I feel like I know these characters? Why did they feel less like characters and more like people I knew?
Never let anyone tell you representation doesn’t matter.
And today we got a little glimpse of what this movie is going to be about with the release of seven different posters and we’re just …having a hard time deciding which one we love more, that’s how much we love them all.
