We understand the reasons why things are moving. We’re not questioning it.
But it doesn’t mean that we aren’t sad about it. We’ve been looking forward to In The Heights and Warner Bros. Pictures revealed that the movie, based on Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s Broadway musical, has been moved from June 26, 2020 to June 18, 2021.
And we do get it.
Anthony Ramos, Corey Hawkins, Melissa Barrera, Leslie Grace, Jimmy Smits, Olga Merediz, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Stephanie Beatriz and Dascha Polanco star in the film..
“It’s a story of a block that was disappearing,” Anthony Ramos, who stars as bodega owner Usnavi, says in the beginning of the trailer. He’s talking to kids about the neighborhood. “In the barrio of Washington Heights, the streets were made of music.”
In the Heights, is Lin Manuel Miranda’s precursor to another musical he wrote – Hamilton. The show was a sensation itself, being nominated for 13 Tony Awards, winning four of those, including best musical.
The movie is directed by John Chu.
