Character posters are something that, personally, I love. I think it’s a choice of how the studio wants us to see the character and you know what they say, first impressions are important.
And these character posters for In The Heights are definitely making a positive impression on me.
In this new film, “Lights up on Washington Heights…The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tight-knit community. At the intersection of it all is the likable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi (Anthony Ramos), who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life.”
Anthony Ramos, Corey Hawkins, Jimmy Smits, Melissa Barrera, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Dascha Polanco and Stephanie Beatriz star in the film.
In the Heights, is Lin Manuel Miranda’s precursor to another musical he wrote – Hamilton. The show was a sensation itself, being nominated for 13 Tony Awards, winning four of those, including best musical.
The movie is directed by John M. Chu. In The Heights will be in theaters and on HBO Max on June 11.
