We’re anxiously awaiting the reboot of The Wonder Years and are excited for all of the information that is coming out about the casting for the reboot.
It was previously announced that Elisha Williams had booked the lead role of Dean. The news was delivered to him by the original series star, Fred Savage. Also cast was Dule Hill as the family matriarch Bill and Saycon Sengbloh, who will play family matriarch Lillian.
And how we’ve got the news of who will play Dean’s sibling. Laura Kariuki will play Kim Williams, Dean’s teenage sister.
According to Variety, Kim is, “confident, bright and popular. She and Dean bicker as siblings do but they have a good relationship. Her parents have her preparing for college – but Kim is starting to rebel, telling them “Bobby Seale and H. Rap Brown didn’t even finish college” and that she’ll learn more from Eldridge Cleaver’s “Soul on Ice” than the SAT’s.”
The reboot will take place in, “1968 Montgomery, Alabama, as the middle-class Williams family tries to make sure these are the Wonder Years for them, too. Dean, an inquisitive and hopeful 12-year-old, is trying to figure out his place within his Black family and the world at large, while coming of age in a turbulent time.”
Don’t know about you, but I am excited for the reboot of The Wonder Years. What do you think? Have you seen the original series?
